Not a joke as such, but when a friend asked me how I remembered which of the vertically stacked buttons on my garage door fob opened which horizontally aligned doors, I replied that it was easy to remember because they followed cartesian convention.

A fellow maths-y person, he looked at me and burst out laughing hehe

How we debate the pronounciation of "GIF" by The Oatmeal

http://theoatmeal.com/comics/gif

I won't post it directly because, quite frankly, I can no longer be be arsed to edit, censor and re-host a pic just because some mods tend to get their panties in a twist over the word "fk" in an image.

It's ALWAYS Day-ta. And it's ALWAYS Roo-ter. It's Router because it ROUTES data. A Row(like a heated discussion)ter is something that is used to finish edges of wood or cut channels in it.

I must confess that, being long-time familiar with the Antipodean meaning of "rooting", i had a real problem when i first became aware of "Roto-rooter".

For a brief and horrible moment, I imagined a device produced by the Westheimer Dildonics Corporation[1], designed as a snap-on fitment for hammer-action Hiltis and Makitas.

Read this comment in another thread. It starts off badly but gets better towards the end.
