Surge is £92.10 here, I'm off to go outdoors after work to see if I can get it for £82.89 as it's listed on their site at £100.

Retailers in the uk just swap the $to £sign a lot of the time. Ive not paid full uk price for any of my knives/multitools,i either price match with go outdoors or import from the usa. Its the the same with maxpedition and Jetboil.
Where are you getting your maxpedition gear?Love that stuff.

I fancy a bit extender and bit set at the moment. An ideal Christmas present!
Is the extender useful??
Ive got the extender and the big kit with the wave, the extender is very helpful when its needed, theres a piece of curled wire inside the end which is used to hold the driver bit in, i had to remove it as it was holding the bits too tightly and they where a pain to remove. Is the extender useful??

Jetboil stuck is from Gooutdoors or Blacks.
About time I posted here: mine's only labelled 'Leatherman Tool' but I suppose it must be a PST.
Had it about 15yrs. Blade is now quite worn from nescessary sharpening (frankly, the stainless grade used is crap for holding an edge); main (plier) pivots a tad sloppy - nipped-up once in a convenient press - but still it's a very handy thing overall and used most days for summat or other.

I bought a massive Victorinox Swiss Army knife when I was 13. 20 years later, its been battered and used, but is still in the coffee table drawer for little things when sat on the sofa. Needs a refurb, and has never been used out and about, or working on the car - it's just not a 'tool' in that sense.
So thinking if getting a Leatherman to carry in bag/car. The sort of thing that'll be useful if I breakdown, or as a go to tool for the garage/garden/home fixes.
Have no clue which one to get! Bit driver, wire cutters/stripper, decent knife, pliers etc. are I think a must. Not sure what else comes in handy, as I've never used one!
What are the best general purpose home/garden/car Leathermen?

The Leatherman to go for is probably the Wave, as it has everything. The charge xl is lighter and has a better main blade but it's quiet a lot more money, surge is great but very heavy,it's just a beefier version of the wave. Skeeletool is great but has a lot of tools the previous ones I've mention are missing. Then there's crunch with the locking pliers. Do you have an assault rifle?? If so get the MUT.
Buy a couple and get them from go outdoors using there price match plus 10%discounts.

Swisstool - don't believe the hype about leatherman the swisstool is still its superior in all senses. http://www.heinnie.com/victorinox-swisstool-x
I must admit though the 'by the numbers' range looks nice.

Morning all,
Looking to buy a Leatherman as a gift - what's the best all rounder and place to purchase from please gents?
A midsize is perhaps the best size - useful tools without being too big. Looking to buy a Leatherman as a gift - what's the best all rounder and place to purchase from please gents?
Then it comes down to what you think they'll use more - mine (wingman) has full size pliers. I'm sure they do one almost identical that's full size scissors instead.
As for best places to buy - know anyone going to the States anytime soon? They're a fraction of the price. Almost rhetoric equivalent of the yellow and black handled screwdrivers everyone must have a set of at home.
