Surely the person being beamed "up" would be still holding the pen and the door would stay where it is, hence the line going up as the pen goes up.

The real pedantry point, though, is that there is no physical movement of the person at all; they de-materialise. nerd

I'm in Cardiff after watching the Ireland game. Never, ever seen a better atmosphere than the pubs for the Japan/S.A game - the place was absolutely on fire!

Interesting though, shows just how complicated walking is and how advanced our brains ours that a computer still cant do something we've mastered by our second birthday.
