5 years ago was just off to the dominican, last plane out of manchester christmas eve, couldn't get home for 4 days ater we were due back. Left the Dom at +35, landed in manchester 6am at -18 - system shock - jesus it was cold...

The shiny orb made it's presence felt at the SS @ Ginetta today - meanwhile back home in cumbria it was still raining - and was when we made it back home this evening.

Despite the lack of snow, and warmer temps - the Wintrac's continue to provide confidence in the wet stuff.

Wow! Super-collapsing El-Nino, entire N.Hemisphere has dropped 1C in a week.

If that doesn't trigger a weather pattern change soon, nothing will.

It's not like you to go in for hyperbole. Should we worry? eek

No I didn't mean it like that. It's not a certain sign of massive cold/snow for us.

It's just so unexpected (assuming it's confirmed and not an instrument/computer/human cock up) to see an El Nino fade so quickly - no one saw it coming.

And any such large global change is likely to favour a change in our prevailing patterns rather than more of the same, this time of year and given the current temperatures, it's more likely to go colder than warmer!

At least you have a shot at a white Xmas up there, according to current charts!

That'll be breezy for about Dublin northwards; maybe 40kts or so. Not too bad in the South of the U.K at all. Maybe 25kts max

Snow

As per above, current charts show a stormy period and no Arctic outbreak in sight.

This could be an even worse winter for the coldies than last winter.

My wife's friend was over from New York yesterday. She was saying that they haven't seen any cold or snow there yet this winter (in fact, it was forecast to be 22c there today!)

Where on earth has all the cold gone??????? It's got to change soon, as this is just getting stupid now!!

This is just getting silly now. 5 days of rain forecast, temps around 11-13 degrees.

Not happy.

Sleet this morning and snow tonight and tomorrow for us.

Hopefully enough for a white covering, even if it only lasts for a couple of hours.

Definitely some passing snow for higher ground in northern areas tomorrow smile

Cautious optimism for things to change around 5th Jan. Some lovely charts.

Let's see...
