George can relax a bit now; the tabloids will now spend the next 90 years following her about instead.

Whereabouts in WelshWelshWales is that mini-railway? I went on one a few years back from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge and it was quite excellent... even if my Dad was glued to the side of the train as far from the sheer drop-off as possible (he's scared of heights, and at the time he was quite fat, so it was fairly sensible actually).
It's the Ffestiniog Railway, it runs from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, as well as having a branch line to Caernarfon.

It wasn't quite the 1860's I went back to, the 1920's would be more accurate, at least as far as this photo goes:

This picture was taken on the return leg of the journey. The brake van I was travelling in was rebuilt in the early '20's, and the machine providing the motive power is a Simplex Petrol Tractor, built in 1917 to work on the trench railways in World War 1.

Someone say mini-railway? Well, the rails may be closer together, but there are some aspects that really aren't small:

62.5t and 50ft of Manchester-built magnificence.

I took some great photos of trains when I was in the Glasgow Transport Museum (courtesy of Chunky). I had assumed that they wouldn't be of interest to anyone other than mat777

Do share them in the boats, planes and trains forum and I'm sure you'll find plenty of people other than me who are interested!

ION, drinking at a prty whilst on cold/flu meds would appear to double the effects of said alcohol, presumably as ones liver is busy processing the paracetamol. At least, I think that's why I was a bit woozy last night after not much to drink.

Darn I forgot my terminology - narrow gauge! Still, relatively.

Wouldn't want to get in the way of a mini steam engine anyway - click

I'm no good at photography, but I may do that tomorrow. Alternatively I could send them to you and you can check and decide if they're worthwhile!

I hope that you're feeling better by-the-by.

Daughter and I decided to stick with traditional May Bank Holiday values by ordering a Chinese meal tonight. Bought far too much food and even then the girl behind the counter told me that the monetary value of our order meant we were entitled to another main meal for a quid - which seemed far too good to be passed up.

Phhhhewww. I may not be able to move for another couple of hours.

Wet and very windy here, not looking forward to this week at all. Too much work, foul weather and the bloody election the only thing on telly.

Fowl weather indeed, need webbed toes to step beyond the front door.

My little Jazz has its recal today. Something about a main window switch being a potential fire bomb of a hazard. Nice of Honda to track me down after fifteen months of ownership of a 11 year old car.

Long stretches of grimness on the M4 this morning but because of the lighter mornings there were chaps in dark cars with no lights. Eejits. Came off at J33 for Barry, still grim and dark and wet and met a girl on a roundabout on her push bike in dark clothes with no lights and nothing reflective. What goes on their heads? Is it, "I can see you therefore you can see me"?

Good morning, by the way.

Morning Herr DickyC.

In European language-does-not-travel-well news, many moons ago I was taught German by a Mr Shepherd. This was back in the days of hippy beards and chalk bombed jackets with leather patches. He used to throw chalk at those who referred to him as Hairy Shepherd. Nice man, terrible dress sense.
