Indeed. Hence mid 20's and early 40's are prime fun times without the tick tock.
You mean messing around with birds 20 years younger when you're middle aged I assume?
Good God no. 16 year old's have no appeal at all in my case.

Just agreeing with your point to avoid the bermuda triangle of maternal contemplation that means during a man's 30 - 35 stage can limit his same-age female targets. Either drop to mid 20's ladies before the body clock activates the alarm function or aim beyond to cougar territory.

He's got a point.

Girls approaching late 20's, early 30's, are often really quite mental due to their sheer panic over not having had a child or got married yet.

I work in a large office (200 people) and there are quite a few single/divorced women in their 40's who look extremely attractive, are a good laugh, and I would suspect are more than a handful in the bedroom, yet carry none of the 'panic' of the girls 10-15 years younger than them.

They are also very receptive to any attention shown by a younger man smile

If I became single, I would certainly be looking to the Cougars.

Not mine fella, however in my early 40's I suspect I'll quite fancy a go on a couple of 20 somethings wink

I'm the wrong side of 40 and the sad thing is, too many women on my side of 40 have just let themselves go. I think I just need to quit the gym and healthy eating and focus on pies and beer then I will look fine with a 40-something woman who can't be bothered. Yes, it's shallow but it's honest.

As do I. As do I.

So long as it is collectively.

Really? I'm the same age, well mid twenties anyway, and have tried dating girls younger, older and the same age as me.

The weird thing is that, as this is such an important phase in life, like a year or two can have dramatic impact on the formulation of personality; I tend to find the younger ones and I don't have a lot in common. I'm 26, and going our with a 20 or 21 year old left me feeling as if there was an undefinable gulf between us. Somehow I just felt as if I was further along in life than her. It's no reflection of her intelligence or whatever, it's just that one is a completely different person at 26/27 to when aged 21/22. In cosmic terms it's no time at all.

Despite this I've tended to find my tastes maturing as I age. Going out with an eighteen year old would just be weird, now, in my opinion. Conversely it seemed normal when I was eighteen. Plus I find the whole 'older man' thing repellent, in terms of the forty year olds chasing twenty-somethings. It's creepy! There are single people in every age group; just find one!
Jeez, who said anything about wanting them for their personality? I want to ravage them, not talk to them in an intellectual capacity.

OP.. I just re read this guys post. Please do not take what he says seriously..

Cosmic fking terms??!!

One is a completely different person??!!

My tastes mature as I age??!!!

Good god.. The most depressing, geeky post I've seen on PH!

And just for the record OP.. Young girls are the hottest!! (Within the legal limit!) I'm mid 20's btw.. thumbup
I'm genuinely flattered by this response, thanks! Honestly I am, no sarcasm intended. However I'd recommend some counselling if you find the prospect of forming relationships in the real world 'depressing'. Also when did dating become geeky? I'll still do it, even if it is, but I hadn't realised the world had moved on so far. Is it all done on computers now? Perhaps it is in your life, never mind...

But the bit I really liked, which is where the thanks come from, is 'Please do not take what he says seriously' - I loved it! An acknowledgement of my charisma; in that you really recognised the world changing implications of such a seemingly innocuous set of remarks! Jimbop, apparently, has major concerns that my words have the power to shift the balance of things out of his favour. Therefore if you'd like a Jimbop shaped future then please don't take what I say seriously. If you want harmless advice on being a serial dater then feel free to.

1) 18 year old girls look far too young to me now
2) 25 year old women are basically at their prime
3) 30 year olds are somehow smelly????

You sound a bit mental.

I'm 26yo and I wouldn't date anyone under 23-24 because you're guaranteed mental even for a short fling. I tried that with a 19yo at 24 and it was awful.

I'm not too sure I would agree.

I am 29 and when I was around 18 there wernt many overweight/obese females that I saw or knew.

Now when I see groups of females of that age it seems a much larger percentage are now largely overweight. And because of this, their skin suffers too.

I dont mean it in an offensive way, just an observation that in only a very short timespan of 10 years people seem to have got noticibly unhealthy. It could just be the area, but the school in the town I lived where all these people would have gone to was a sports college.

When I was 12, 15 year old girls were pretty amazing. But of course they weren't interested in me.

When I was 15-16, girls my age and up to 19 were good. But of course they always went for the sporty lads and the older 18-23 year olds which had cars, jobs and money.

When I was 18-22, girls 17-22 were good. But they always went for the older guys which in addition to cars (which I now had), jobs and money, had their own place to live.

When I was 23-25, girls/women 21-25 were good. I now also had a job, car, money, and my own place to live. I had waited for this. But now the girls went for student guys who had loads of free time, or older men who had more/better jobs/cars/money/place to live and were also more real men compared to the student guys.

Now I'm 27, girls/women 21-28 are good (ok, some 19s are attractive). Lower are not at the same stage in life. Older are looking for guys to possibly marry. I have more/better of what I had when I was 23-25. But I'm now too old and serious for the younger girls, and I still can't compete with the older guys for the older women. Female friends and their friends are marrying 30-35 year olds mostly.

My conclusion is that there is no best time in your life - now is the best time, the past wasn't better, and the future won't be either. At the previous stages above, I always thought "when I have/am X" then things will be better, but truth is that the main factor in it all is you yourself. You always have some value on the market; if you're not being bought then you're setting your price too high.

Actually, I wouldn't. She's far too skinny and looks about 12 years old. Whatever floats your boat though.

As per your user name, You wouldn't touch a bottle of Petrus that was too young. It takes time to evolve before it tastes its best.

Intelligent response. My wife is in her early 30's and I'm certainly not complaining. Interestingly (to a point) her ex was a multi billionaire guy in his very late 50's, so I guess there's phases in a lot of people's lives!

OP, be very grateful, some of us are nearing 40.
Since I'm a couple of years off the big 50, I can safely say, that I find most women under 30, quite narcissistic and arrogant. My daughter's friends, mostly 18 or 19 year olds, I find quite irritating and soul-less. My niece's 25 year old friends, I find quite sad. That you can spend so much time putting on makeup, and end up looking so false, is something that is lost on them. And personality wise? I want to scream.

What I have found is that once their kids get into teenage years, a proportion of mothers start to get their lives back, they start dressing stylishly, and they have a confidence that is deserved.
Whilst I wouldn't be tempted to stray, I do find many of my wife's friends almost as attractive as she is.
On the other hand, there are a few that have let themselves go, and I find that quite sad.
