I won a nintendo gamecube off nickelodeon when I was 9ish I think. It was just after it came out anyway. They screwed me about though, took 6months+ before I actually got it... Then I flogged it about 2 months later. Good times!

Quite a few things actually; the trip to an ice-cream factory when I was 12 was pretty amazing as you might imagine.

Also won a couple of watches including a Rothmans F1 watch when Hill won title.

A few years ago, I used to listen to Xfm. I started entering in their phone-in competitions.

Over time, I got to know how each dj preferred to do it and ended up winning quite frequently.

Amongst other prizes, I won:

Signed band artwork(Dogs-yeah, not one's heard of them but they're brilliant!)
The Futureheads - framed "gold" cd disc
Weekend trip to Manchester, Carling 24 Hours gigs entrance and hotel, transport.
Must have gone to at least 20 gigs foc.
..and must have been in the region of about 40 cds over a year. Some signed, some ltd editions.

What a pity when they changed the way that the competitions were handled, resulting in you having to text them and your name being put in a pot.

Since then, I hardly listen any more...no excitement! It was good while it lasted!

I know someone who used to be involved in running competitions for a large publisher. The prizes were donated by the advertisers. They were usually distributed amongst friends and family under different names. Highly illegal I would imagine. I did threaten to shop her through a mutual acquaintance.
Put me off entering competitions.

My wife bought a Kit-Kat last Spring and won a choice of 'Perfect Breaks' worth £10K... This is what she chose as our prize:

- Flights on Friday from Heathrow to Nice
- Chauffeur driven Mercedes to Cannes
- 5 star hotel overlooking the sea (this is at the end of Canned Film Festival week)
- Friday night gala dinner
- Saturday: transfers to Monaco. Seats in grandstand in Casino Square for Grand Prix qualifying.
- Sunday: Limousine to Monaco, dropped off at the harbour. Small boat transfer to our track-side yacht at Tabac Corner (10ft from the track, open view, no fencing)
- Champagne reception. Watched the Porsche Super Cup race before sitting down for a fantastic lobster/seafood lunch. Complimentary bar all day.
- Watched Jenson win the Grand Prix.
- Champagne celebration on the yacht after race.
- Sunday evening: after race party on the roof terrace of the Mirabeau Hotel, Monaco.
- Shopping in Cannes on Monday before flying home.

Not bad from a 40p bar of chocolate. biggrin

Having entered only a few competitions over the years, and never having won anything, this Friday I received an email informing me I had won a competition entered over Christmas. Heck, it's just a set of handle bars for my mountain bike (certainly needed though) and a few other bits, but it made my miserable two hour commute into London that much better.

So, thinking I finally had the luck of the Irish within me I spent a fiver on the lottery last night, and won nowt....

Oh, and my pet Guinea pig won 1st place in my junior school pet show many, many years ago. Snoopy loved that rosette, so much so she devoured it.

I was bloody surprised too! She had to chose right away after entering the code on the Kit-Kat website while at work. She chose well!

I've never really won anything, although my parents won a holiday to Washington, D.C. a few years back on Virgin Radio. Think it was something to do with the release of Mission Impossible II. Oh, and years ago my dad won a diesel Peugeot 205 off a can of Tango. Not bad!

During the 'good old days' when I was a young salesman, I 'won' for achieving sales targets the following:

Many, many months of £500 House of Fraser vouchers (£500 per month, if you achieved a given % over your target)
Two trips to Marbella for a week, all expenses paid in good hotels, eat and drink as much as you like.
Trip to Rio and the Iguazu Falls for two weeks, all expenses paid (to include a private charter from San Paulo to Iguazu). We gate crashed the 'March F1 Team party (the F1 used to be in Rio during March in those days) which was a bit of fun!
Week in Istanbul Turkey, all expenses paid
Trip to Florida for a week, then on to The Cayman Islands for a further week, staying on 7 mile beach at the same hotel where 'The Firm' was filmed. Played 'Cayman Golf' at the hotel and still have a Cayman Ball on my study desk as I write - of course.....all expenses paid
10 day trip to Hawaii, but at that time I had a 9 month old and I elected to take a cash alternative and went to Jamaica instead.
Goodwood Travel trip to the Monaco F1 GP, out on Concorde, back on the Orient Express.....all expenses paid. Unfortunately that trip clashed with another I had won which as it was a world wide company incentive was deemed to be more important than the UK incentive and I never got the the F1! As compensation I went out to Salzberg on the Orient Express and came back on Concorde.....all expenses paid of course wink (but don't go to Salzberg - it's st!

I have quite fond memories of the good old days!
