I eat breakfast at work and have done so for many years, but I also work on flexi time so can turn up at midday if I want to, as long as I work the 37 hours or more as I always do and do my job within or outside that time then everyone is happy.

I would most likely not take a job that would not allow me to make that choice or to have breakfast to early but that is my own choice.

To the OP, you just sound like a grumpy git, my own preference for my employees is that they do the job I employee them to do and show some initiative once in a while

So no one else can either? Of course it's inappropriate in some jobs, but so what? It's inappropriate for me to behave like a primary school teacher at work.

idd, ridiculous comparison. I "teach" some days (couple of days/month) and I won't eat while teaching (of course), but I know plenty of teachers who eat in the teachers room if they don't have a class to teach that hour.

st!!!!

He's right, the world would come to an end, the devil would rule for 3000 years and all humanity would be enslaved, all for the sake of some people eating breakfast at work!

Why is it lazy ? do you expend more energy eating at home than you do at work

I get up a 6am. I'm not in the mood for breakfast then. I get to work at 6:45, and eat brekky about 7:15 - 7:30 when I'm ready for it.

I sit beside a shower. At work.

Worse still, I get people walking past me in their towels. At work.

Madness.
Are you a swimming pool attendant?
You'd think so wouldn't you?
Do they wander over to a corner of the office to get dressed?
I'm actually not sure. I suspect the individual(s) (I can think of only two or three) splosh back to their desks and get dressed. It's quite distracting when you're in deep thought and all you can hear is some middle-aged, desperate-to-get-fit-again, fat bloke showering a few feet behind you. Naked.

I always eat breakfast at work, when I get up at 5 I don't really feel like eating and I don't know about anyone else but I can eat and work at the same time.

If your work involves talking to people it might be tricky.

I used to work in a call centre and they would provide pizza if you worked through your lunch break.

We do a 7am-3pm without lunch break so we have to eat at our desk and as we do reception duties we have no choice. so it does not matter wether it is breakfast or not.
Pretty sure that's illegal (unless you are not in the UK)

Not if it was in the contract at signing time, it isn't. Anyone's perfectly entitled to work whatever hours they like.
There is a difference between choosing to work through & not being allowed.

More info here though & there is exceptions

Ah, but it's not quite like that.

I arrive at work at 07.15, fire up the computer, have breakfast from 07.20-07.35 and it's not until 08.30-09.00 that anyone else in the team shows up.

But I surf all day.

I do this sometimes as well. The perks of working for the NHS and a reception / switchboard that has to be manned 24/7. quite often doing the sort of hours we do is technically illegal, but such is life, these things have to be done smile

Ah, that's ok then.

I'd be really disapointed if your sum total of surfing only occured between 7:20 and 7:25 wink
