A drink? Lunch? Dinner? LeglessAlex and I are due to do something soon. Fancy that? We can eat, drink and talk bks. Just like being on here, really. For added abuse we could invite JAYB and CB. The Albert on Kingston Hill?

BHC is cranking up to organise a similar meeting in the midlands.

He hasn't said as much, I just get the feeling.

I got all emotional and had a cry about an hour ago. Over an aeroplane! Canadian AVRO Lancaster takes off this afternoon, arrives here on Friday. It was reading that she'll be escorted to Conningsby by BBMF & Red Arrows (switching to red, white & red smoke) that set me off weeping

I'm having a cry too.

I'm back in Aberdeen in this pishy travelodge! I can't check in until 3pm and if I move the van ill lose my parking space- (has 20 spaces for over 100 rooms.)

Furthermore, my first job tomorrow is a shopping centre. The whole bd thing!

In addition- the company are so slow at sorting out my contract that when I'm off next week, I'll still be a contractor so won't be paid.

Damn right I'm having a cry!!!

I actually was thinking about that. Do we have any midlanders on this thread? Alternatively I'd make the journey to a meeting less local to me, depending on time

Excellent. Kingston this Wednesday lunchtime - just arranged - or probably one evening next week. There was talk of an evening in The Yew Tree in Stoke Row at some time but that's gone a bit quiet.

Just count yourself lucky you're not in the Royal or the St Magnus; they are actually bona fide flea pits. Aberdeen is well equipped with overpriced steholes owned by profiteering chisellers. Which shopping centre? ABZ has 3 and they're all ste, although 2 are much older and ster than the new one. If you like a greasy burger the Sizzler opposite the bus station is impressively greasesome.

This Wednesday I'll be working all day, but next week could work out. I know I have a couple of trips to London over the next few weeks, so if I can arrange one of them to coincide, that would be terrific.

Usually in August we have a quiet period, but now we're struggling to get everything done. We are strangely busy, so at least money is coming in.
It means 12 hours a day Monday-Friday and 6-8 Saturday and Sunday.

Also a lot of travel around the country. So don't be surprised if I'm completely knackered if I make it to the meeting!

Hmm, good question. Tentatively a 40 mile radius of Birmingham, maybe?
I'm within that circle to the west.

Marvellous. Almost always up for an eats and drinks bash. PM me if I go quiet.

You? Quiet? Pah!

I can always drum up a crew of at least one.

Trinity. Security guy told me the ops manager is a top bloke, so that's half the battle sorted!

Befuddled doesn't even cover it. Woke up at 5am in pain and took 2 big pink pills, then awake at 7.30 stoned off my tits. Just got to work having almost hit the kerb twice. Not bloody clever.grumpy
Blimey. Hope you made it through the day OK and are feeling better now.

I'm contemplating driving over to Coningsby on Friday to see it arrive. But they are discouraging people from doing so because the local infrastructure just won't allow too many visitors.

Which is the shopping centre that has Aberdeens only decent hotel in?

I stayed at the cocket hat premier inn (st food and they stole my phone)
The best western suites round the corner from there (dodgy parking sharing a car park with Farm Foods and the junkies picking up their methadone)
The one in the shopping centre (which was nice but £10 a night to park)
and treetops? which I never actually managed to get into but some of my colleagues said it was ok
