You should try being here for 9 months.... Can't wait to get back home!
Is that 9 months straight?!?!

I quite like a bit of travel with work, but a couple of weeks per trip is all I can tolerate. 2 weeks in South Africa and by the end of it I was craving a nice simple bowl of pasta and a pint of decent cider!

Kind of... I get to come back to the UK for a week or so every 3 months. I'm on month 6 now, so 3 months left. I quite like it.. Being out here for such a long period of time definitely makes you appreciate home comforts. I'd happily pay £100 for a decent fish&chips right now!

pff sat watching the flashy lights and occasionally contemplating turning things off and back on again..... just to relieve the tedium.

Ahh Lee, we meet again! I'm nearing the end of my first of five night shifts. Currently surfing here and reading Autocar between doing some actual work.

It took me a while to complete it, but I never put more than an hour or two into it at a time, so spread it out. I'm playing GT6 and The Last of Us at the moment, both keeping me occupied.

Starting 5 so not really a night shift.

Waiting outside a garage to pick a mate up who's dropping his A6 off for paint after someone reversed into it 2 days into his ownership.

Anyone around tonight?

In tonight and tomorrow, off for five then back in for one(!) Then off for six.

Was busy earlier on but dead now. Time is dragging... Roll on 0800!

See, I wouldn't mind something like that. My shift pattern goes:

3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, and repeat.

Its crap. 7 on, 7 off would be better. Least I'd know what day it is!!
As a Co-op milkman it was 7 on, 2 off, 7 on two off, 7 on three off, hence the 28 day cycle, and the 3 off always fell on Friday to Monday to avoid collecting days. It worked well, but the worst part was getting home in mid-winter and trying to get some feeling back in the hands. Ruddy painful!
