You should try being here for 9 months.... Can't wait to get back home!
Is that 9 months straight?!?!I quite like a bit of travel with work, but a couple of weeks per trip is all I can tolerate. 2 weeks in South Africa and by the end of it I was craving a nice simple bowl of pasta and a pint of decent cider!

Kind of... I get to come back to the UK for a week or so every 3 months. I'm on month 6 now, so 3 months left. I quite like it.. Being out here for such a long period of time definitely makes you appreciate home comforts. I'd happily pay £100 for a decent fish&chips right now!I quite like a bit of travel with work, but a couple of weeks per trip is all I can tolerate. 2 weeks in South Africa and by the end of it I was craving a nice simple bowl of pasta and a pint of decent cider!

See, I wouldn't mind something like that. My shift pattern goes:
3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, and repeat.
Its crap. 7 on, 7 off would be better. Least I'd know what day it is!!
As a Co-op milkman it was 7 on, 2 off, 7 on two off, 7 on three off, hence the 28 day cycle, and the 3 off always fell on Friday to Monday to avoid collecting days. It worked well, but the worst part was getting home in mid-winter and trying to get some feeling back in the hands. Ruddy painful! 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, and repeat.
