The PH Nightshift
Discussion
Just back from a night out with friends that've cheered me up no end. Meal at 5:30 with the best venison I've ever had, then a few more drinks, then some pool with some more drinks, then a couple casinos with some more drinks. On top of my money spent on the night out including drinks I'm around £160 (from £20 of chips) up and I haven't gambled in around 2 years.
Life is good, not too boozy either.

I'm here ![wavey](/inc/images/wavey.gif)
Got an assignment due in tomorrow (today but who's counting). Got 12 pages to do out of 20 total. Should have started earlier but kept getting sidetracked by my dissertation, and the fact the lecturer seemed adamant that we shouldn't commit too much time to it, meant that I kept putting it off!

I'm also here, shift based role on a 4 week pattern, 7:45 to 7:45 either am to pm or pm to am.
It's fubar'd up my sleeping pattern and do sometimes do a day shift with 2 hours sleep at times. One more night this week to go before 3 days off to return next week and do a 72 hour week![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
Not sure on what day I am on half the time :S

Checking in early. Had an email from project tutor a few hours ago saying he would be seeing us tomorrow to look at our practical work & discuss progress.
I haven't started on my practical stuff yet, so currently finishing my PCB design for the power electronics, then cracking out the soldering iron to begin building the control PCB, Fortunately I have enough parts and tools kicking around to not need to go into the lab to do everything!

Currently doing 2 days in the office (7:30-17:00) & 3 night on site (21:30-04:30). This means I get to a days work in the office and start the night work on the same day. Still on a Thursday it is finish work at 04:30, get back to the apartment, shower, change and head to the airport for the 8am flight home for the weekend.
Currently in my 4th week of doing this with unknown number of weeks to go......

Sounds delightful! I could hack the 07:30-04:30, fairly often end up doing days of that length. Think the travelling would do me in though, are you crossing time zones?Currently in my 4th week of doing this with unknown number of weeks to go......
Well here's an exciting twist to my night shifts lately...
Was rostered on to do Fri / Sat / Sun 12 hours, Monday off, then Tues / Weds / Thurs nights.
Fri / Sat all went ok, without problems.
Sunday...got to around 5am, after a usual happy and busy night shift...and I started to feel a wee bit ropey and queasy, to say the very least. Symptoms came on so quickly to the point that, whilst travelling in a 'company vehicle' let's say, I had to ask the driver to stop, so that I could get out damn sharpish....and be violenty sick by the side of the road! Uggghhh! To the person who owns the house by the pavement that I ejected all over....I am really, truly sorry my friend!![yikes](/inc/images/yikes.gif)
Then spent the last few days doubled up at home, with, let's say, emissions from both ends kinda thing?!
As of now - pains gone, and stuff 'firming up' and back to normal. But not allowed back on shift until 48 hours have passed free from symptoms...so looks like I'll miss my next 2 nights on as well...bah...
So just looking forward to getting back on line for the next roster of nights starting Monday. Wish me luck and that!![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

The night shift is spent looking for leaks in underground pipes so lots of walking. Going to be fun in the summer....
