Are there no real geeks here ? Surely the thread numbering should follow base 13, so that the answer to life, the universe and everything really is 6x9.

It's taken us ~10 years to get to the end of volume 1. In order for numbering in base 13 or hexadecimal to become apparent, it'll take us another 90 years.

Let's stick with binary...

That's Numberwang!

(Incidentally, 0X02 is immediately recognisable as hexadecimal)

We could keep it at one.

Because there can be only one...

ETA: I had considered that. Also 0b00000010 (unless you want more bits!)

How stupid does IT guy feel now?
Next time he’ll have to change every key except the i.

Or we could use volume 5.

But never 1, 2 or 3.

O/T slightly...
...arrived at my last job, brief induction - fire exits, stationary cupboard, tea etc then IS attended with laptop. It has a missing key, I forget which one. I said I would have brought my own key if I had known, should I order one from RS and other michael takes. He took it well.

It was a temporary spare until a new one (laptop not replacement key!) arrived.
It lightened the day.

I feel like the missing detail of this story was it was the R key or the S key then it has a joke in it, otherwise it's a Grampa Simpson rambling story that doesn't go anywhere.

At the time the fire exit signs were white with red writing, unlike the modern ones that are usually green with white writing, oh and the fonts where different too, I forget what font, but anyway the stationary cupboard, there were the red swingline staplers....

And we tied an onion to our belts, as was the style at the time.

Trying to tie-in the old Confucius joke
Confucius say, man who lose key to girlfriend's flat get no nookey
...but failing miserably.

Did you get [a] new key BTW?

Did they keep special stuff in the stationary cupboard that could not be kept in a moving one ?

That anecdote went well biggrin

The picture is uncannily unlike me or the workplace. It was TRW in 2012.

Irritatingly I can't recall which key was AWOL. It was a letter but that's it. Perhaps hypnosis will work?

Yes I did get a new key.
A whole set in fact.
Attached to the new laptop I suggested was incoming smile

The special stuff was kept in the moving cupboard (arse, I say ary, you say ery, let's call the whole thing off).

I seem to be becoming Frank7 in my anecdotage. Although I have never driven a cab.
Have I had my tea yet?
