Where did the mysterious "r" interloper come from? It's hardly as if brought is a word in common usage. Or at least not in my world it's not.

This really fking does my head in.

I explained this to my girlfriends mate who exclaimed, "I just brought some new shoes."

No, you bought new shoes, not brought.

Her reply was, "you can use both though, can't you?" banghead

It's easy really, 'brought' is from 'bring', 'bought' is from 'buy'.
