the custard test might have started elsewhere but it gained traction on here, when someone came on and started talking about his exotic collection, people called him out and humble pie was eaten.

Slightly off topic but where did the "custard proof" thing start? First time I saw it was on Barryboys many years ago - did PH pinch it from there or vice versa, and if so what began it?
All forums/cliques have their own way of demanding proof. Some just want a photo of the OP's username next to whatever they're talking about. Some forums demand a photo of you alongside whatever you have with a shoe atop your head. One forum I used to frequent wanted a copy of the daily newspaper in shot, and I'm sure I've visited some boards where a banana is the proof of the pudding. It's not a leap of faith to assume that the same folks who frequented Barryboys also started the same proof requirement on PH.

They guy with the mysterious beep, which has never been solved, in Homes, Gardens and DIY.

I can't help think the thread was someone at either a wind-up, or an attempt at the Turner prize. Which, of course, is tantamount to the same thing.

What about the 'children on school trip left behind in a foreign country' one?

He said the look on the teachers face said f******kkkk as it pulled out of the station

Seemed to be PH answer to Lord of the Flies, turned out to be two 15 year olds missing a coach and having to get a cab from Brussels to another bit of Brussels.

The Caveat Emptor thread... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Lots of hot air - no closure (as expected, but still annoying).
