I just thought I would post a small positive item regarding Royal Mail.

The envelope that should have contained the NHS hearing aid record book and additional batteries was delivered empty on Saturday (self seal didn't stick). Got home from work to find an envelope from Royal Mail with the missing items.

That was jolly nice of them!

I assume you told the local sorting office what was missing and they haven't secretly been breeding an army of genetically modified physic parcel finders... or something... smile

Had a letter delivered to my house on Saturday. Nothing strange in that apart from the fact that it was addressed to my previous house I left over two years ago. Never had redirect. Postman must have seen the name and linked it to my new address. Good effort.

Had a new postie recently who by mistake posted our post through a near neighbours door , he wrote a detailed note explaining who had our post and dropped it through our door with an apology card and a map showing who had our post..top work.

My postie(s) are brilliant.

If ever I go to the sorting office to collect a parcel, they give me the rest of my day's mail as well.

This isn't a tiny village setup - it's a biggish sorting office.

I rang the audiology department at the hospital but not the sorting office. After hearing so many negative stories I thought the items would be lost.

It's nice to read the other positive tales.

On the other foot, I had some paint and some sandpaper go missing. TBF, i'm not sure that the spray paint was sent royal mail, but the sandpaper definitely was, and it should have arrived by now..... irked

Always have a bit of a mixed bag with RM.

In the main they are very good and do at least bring the parcels with them as opposed to my old area where we caught the guy just dropping the card through the door with no parcel multiple times

I did have a birthday card go missing containing a cheque from my mother recently, handy it was a cheque as she could just stop it but still

Give 'em a ring, see if they can smooth things over?

It is a company of many parts.

A big faceless sorting office at one end.
Friendly helpful (or not) at the other end.

There are a few houses and businesses near us with similar addresses.
Sometimes the automated postcode systems put the wrong address with the right name.
Our postie is pretty good at delivering things correctly.

I think he's trying to gloss over things.

I ordered a set of 1/2 inch drive impact sockets from a leading online retailer that doesn't like paying tax. They are due to come tomorrow. They came today. I hope the postie pumped the tyres up on his bike because they are quite heavy. .

A retailer with similar history sent me a large sack of dog food. Normally this comes in a plastic sack. This time they had boxed it, complete with additional protection...

I love Royal Mail. And the bin men.
I thank them by placing plastic snakes the kids used to play with on the driveway and path.
That'll teach them not to concentrate when delivering my mail.

Whilst on topic, it costs a tenner to cancel a cheque.
If a cheque goes missing in the post, most banks will cancel it free of charge.
