L plates ditched, waited a few months for biggest brothers motor... & a £1000 (ISH) loan from the bank of MUM & DAD.

I would be driving a Ford Escort MKll for the next four years.
( 1.3L, 2dr in Venetian red... will have a pop out bronzed glass sunroof fitted later.).

Ensured that the Chocolate brown fluffy seat covers were part of the deal.

Off for some posing now.

I wouldn't have bought the dog st brown Fiesta L that my dad thought was a great little first car. Instead, for the same money, I'd have bought the Lotus Elan that was screaming at me to buy it, but would've been a money pit, according to same dad. That was over 40 years ago, and I still grieve about it smile

Inbetweeners springs to mind... sounds like a familiar tale.
( Dad knows best... & bigger brother wants to sell his reliable motor, hassle free).

SO glad that I kept all those tapes...
Radiomobile scrapped... those HP2 batteries in my cassette player are expensive & don't last very long.

Id still have my first car (it was my birthday present for my 15th) and I learned to drive it off road at my parents caravan site tooling around off-road and on tracks etc.

It was a 1987 D plates, Suzuki SJ410 and I lopped the roof off to make it a permanent convertible.

My second car however was a 1997 Ford Ka, bought ex-demo and for the same money I nearly bought a 1967 1600 Beetle instead and still wish I had done.

Escort L to Acclaim HLS in four years...That's what you can achieve with hard graft.
(My boss's runabout... but I drove it a lot, so knew it's history).

32K mls / £2300... bargain.
