Is there anything left to post?
Discussion
Earlier I gave robinessex a slightly hard time for his post about a dealers ad without a picture etc....robin Essex challenged me to start a post.
I should say that I have nothing whatsoever against poor old robinessex and he just got the brunt of my few minutes browsing the forum.
This got me thinking about a range of things in relation to Pistonheads specifically and forums in general.
Are we getting to the point in time when almost everything that should be said has already been posted or am I just a cynical grumpy old git?
I also came to the realization that trying to come up with something new and interesting is actually quite tricky. Putting aside specific questions asking for help, discussing specific cars , sharing jokes or funny stories it is actually pretty hard.
So my real question I suppose is it better to not post anything if you don't have something interesting to say etc or is it better to post for the sake of posting....I am lonely and need to say something to someone kind of posts.
I love Pistonheads and some of the other car related forums but have noticed that now after a good number of years on the internet a lot of old ground does get covered again and again.
One of the issues I think is that it is much easier to give someone else stick for saying something than actually being creative enough to say something of interest.
Pistonheads is a great release from the normal world of work, the problems of the world and I didn't really do anything exciting today so tomorrow I am going to make sure I get out into the world and look really hard for something worth posting about!

So you are saying my mental search means that because I have been reading Pistonheads for so long I have now seen it all?
That's a pain...But it does make sense. I have been reading the forums since the very early days of PH so I reckon that a large number of the community were probably just starting school then...and I really don't mean anything by saying that...its great to get new people of course.
It does just probably mean that I need to forget everything and start again from scratch.
On a positive note looking at some of the other sections is still really good...had a good look at the pictures on the Caterham forum earlier and enjoyed that a lot.
I do remember some great posts and comments over the past few years from people like the s-line Audi guy and subjects like the throwing of Red Bull cans....maybe we are just missing some real nutters now?

No you should be applauded for your somewhat lunatic idea rather than blamed...there is nothing on tv(even with a million channels) and this is making me laugh already.
Although I guess the reason for the nothing on telly bit is the same as the nothing new on the forum reason.....I am just so very old now I have seen it all before.

Even if everything has been posted, the media industry loves to wallow in repeats and remakes, not to mention documentaries about programs/films/artists etc.
And we get that here. I have seen, maybe even participated in threads explaining frozen sausages etc
And rememeber, people still watch "Only Fools And Horses" repeats, and that wasn't even funny to begin with!

You have to remember hundreds of new members are joining every week, and they will not have seen threads from years ago, such as RAF Dug's Samurai sword and the 335D (mapped)..Cadence clutching etc.
I personally get very bored with "what car? threads.....
I have 5k to spend, what car to take my wife and three year old down to Tesco once a week?
Do your own research ffs!

I suppose an analogy is the IBM guy who once suggested that the world would only need 6 computers !!!!!!!!! Once a post is created, it often springs off multiple other posts, so posting in PH has an exponential function, and soon posting her will be a full time job……………….!! Oh, hang on, it already is. Now, about my dog, and her funny tricks………………..
