Life lesson here: the nearest pub to me is a 2min walk, 5min ferry ride (free) and 30s walk on the other side. Nice weather so went here for a pint. Now missed the last ferry back, which was 9:15, so am sitting here on pint number 3 looking across the water to my house with the choice of a 42 mile journey round the loch to get home or staying the night with a few more drinks.

Locals (that live on the same side as the pub) are having a right laugh.

So you live 2 mins walk from the ferry, and never considered the fact that they stop for the night?

There's a place in Cornwall (Fowey/Boddinick) that catches people out in the same way... it's a long walk to Fowey if you miss it.

Correct!

Yes, I know very well that the last ferry is Ardgour to Corran 9:15 and Corran to Ardgour 9:30. But with it being light to late on, and enoying a pint it's easy to forget the time. At least I'm off work tomorrow.

Been caught out there before on the way down from Mull, ay least I had a car though to round the long way.

Took a girl to an Italian restaurant on the Isle of Wight a little while ago. Too much Prosecco meant we missed the boat back to civilisation so stayed the night in hotel.
Expensive evening but the unexpected benefits were most welcome.

Anyone there you can cuddle up with?

I got caught out last year.

Company conference at Sandbanks. I got up early and caught the chain ferry to Studland to go for a walk. Whilst I was on the other side a car ferry cut the chains for the chain ferry. This left me 100m from the conference venue but with s 2 hour bus ride to get there. Guess who was giving the first presentation?

he got pissed and then got the first ferry home. I'd imagine it's not the first time.

It's amazing how the hangover differs on the missed ferry nights...
