Inexplicably losing things
Discussion
I've had my down jacket in the boot of my car for the past 6 months, not sure why I've left it in there but it's been there all through the summer.
On Tuesday before work, as it was a bit chilly I went to the boot to get it and my jacket wasn't there. I've looked everywhere for it at home, in the car etc etc and I can't find it. I'm pretty gutted as it was reasonably expensive and I bought it last year in New Zealand so I'm not going to be able to get a like for like replacement. I can't for the life of me think where it could have gone which is fking annoying but I can't exactly remember when I last saw it either....
I seem to do this periodically, just randomly lose something for no reason. Does anyone else do this? I'm only 26, don't want dementia yet.....

Before anyone else says it, do you have a wife?
Beat me to it.Other than that OP, we've had a few chilly days of late, sure you didn't wear it and take it into the house?
My other half is adamant it's not at hers...which probably means it is. In the meantime though I can enjoy moping and musing over how useless I am
A few years ago my wife had a car accident in her nice 944, car was towed to a restorer friend by a tow truck I know well, problems sourcing parts delayed the repair and when finished the tool roll was missing from the boot, search of the garage, tow man checked his truck, no sign, bought replacement on ebay. A week latter found the old one under the sink at home, we have no idea how it got there, wife must have picked it up when the tow man removed the wheel and brought it home in the taxi.
But the best way to find the jacket is buy a new one, you'll find the old one in a week, works every time for me.

My daughter (7) has started keeping things "neat and tidy", so what looks like a mess to her gets carefully packed away in any nook, cranny and corner she can find.
This means my carefully constructed piles of man-stuff are regularly disappearing.
Only yesterday a green, extra long USB cable that I had stored with a few other odds and sods vanished and I still haven't found it. HalfPints mk1 had been seen in the vicinity acting suspiciously the night before.
She's turning into her mother.

Too true. My wife is always moaning at me that I leave things out; I have a system, if a bill or bit of paperwork is left out then I see it and I know it needs doing, if it isn't visible then it doesn't get done.
The wife is a tidier upper, things dissappear, however oh no it's not her when some of my paperwork has gone missing, I must have moved it, yet she moans that I leave things out, so in one breath she is saying I'm messy and don't tidy things away and in the other breath she is saying I've tidied it away, I've even caught her moving my stuff.

I am getting her one of those retractable cable belt clippy things so the damn thing is attached to her at all times.
