Women of Pistonheads
Discussion
You can come out now. These men are too good at getting their own way it looks like, time for us to get together and change a few things around here!
Women drive too you know guys! And usually have better taste in cars than men, and usually drive better!
C'mon girls, join me and let's get a few threads of our own started, the guys have threads on Watches so let's have one on Handbags, ooh and Shoes, fashion and celebs, Men, interior design and if the guys want to talk to us, we'll talk about cars with them!
So c'mon girls, and fellas, let your wife or SWMBO (as you call her here, where you think you won't get caught) have a go on the keyboard, the latest in shoes and handbags won't talk about themselves!

Agree with all the above...even my other half says the majority of women she encounters on the roads shouldn't be allowed to drive.
Take it she drives like a demon though eh? Or one of those rubbish drivers that can't drive for st and criticise everyone else on the road while going purple with rage, texting at twice the speed limit?Hang on I've just described most men!
I don't know why you're all being so nasty, not one person asks about who I am or my interest in cars, or my work or anything, just nastiness, and now that brought it out in me when I just came here to be friendly and talk about cars mostly, but have to encourage other women because they are here but too intimidated to join in.
You never know I might be quite knowledgable.

Fine. So talk about cars then...
Hi Matt, well that was a bit demanding but it's ok, well I work as a secretary in a Classic car restoration business, I don't do restos myself you understand but I do know what a Jensen FF is and a Lotus Europa, I do all the oredering so I guess I'm pretty clued-up on sourcing exotic parts that are sometimes hard to find. I get to drive a few of the finished cars, although I don't have a classic of my own, but would like one, maybe a small Elan or MG one day, if I get a cheap one I can get the work done as a favour so I should get one really. lamboman100 said:
Most new PH posters who poke their heads above the parapet -- male or female -- get a pasting. Natural-selection at work before our very eyes. Don't take it personally. Stick with it (assuming you're genuine). PH is a good forum.
It's fine, I'm good. What do you mean genuine?I think a gentlemen might have revealed himself here, thank you. x

No one on here really cares if you're female or not, but coming out with the feminist defensive comments right out the gate... Why not just join in? There are other women who do without having to make a song and dance about it. its a community where everyone is welcome anyway... Why the "better drivers" and "threads of our own" comments were needed I don't know, because you seem to be more hung up on the gender/feminist issue than anyone else.
It's a car forum after all...
It wasn't like that, it was a bit of banter, it's hard for anyone to post anything first-time, I have a sense of humour, I'm not remotely feminist but I do consider myself as a fellow human-being, I'm up for a few laughs, if I were you I wouldn't get hung-up about it, I can take it and I can give it too, also I'm not hiding my femininity around a bunch of fellas either. It's a car forum after all...
A funny thing though that it's mostly fellas in this thread addressed specifically to women, no matter.
Don't take things personal, I know women drivers who can't drive and men too, I'm sure we all do, usually I bat my false eyelashes and these issues go away, but I realise this is the internet!

Welcome to PH, and you will find that if you post on automotive topics in particular its a pretty constructive place. Don't worry about the variety of reactions. As you demonstrate a genuine interest in things automotive you should be just fine.
Thanks for a warm welcome! xdanjama said:
