protein shakes
Discussion
I was recommended myprotein in 2007 and have never bought anything else since. Its great value, really high quality stuff an tastes great. Such a breath of fresh air from companies like maximuscle who, although sell very good quality stuff, are seriously over priced.
Ive used true whey, impact whey, hurricane XS and their flapjacks (Now choc chip oats and whey i believe). All are really really good at what they're designed for.
Impact whey is cheap, and very good. True whey is a tad more expensive, but has some other stuff in it to help you digest the protein.
Hope that helps. If you want 5% off your first order, use this refferel code: mp22002 . I get some reward points out of that too!

Used myprotein for about 18months, it's good enough but some of their stuff doesn't mix that well (esp. weight gainer elite). Maximuscle is much better (IMO) but as has been said, it's expensive. I only buy it now because I'm sponsored so get 40% discount.
I've never tried the weight gainer, but none of the stuff i've used has ever had an issue with mixing. (i'm going to sound like a work for MP if i'm not careful)Mark, what are you sponsered for?

My name's not Mark but I assume you mean me. I said "I'm" sponsored but it's actually my rugby team - I don't really play but I still get the sponsorship discount which is nice!

I've been using myprotein for quite a while now.
I use the Weight Gainer in vanilla flavlour and buy the 5 or 10lb bags of whey.
The price is good and so is the service.
I orginally tried the weight gainer in strawberry but found it really sickly and quite hard to drink, the vanilla, for me is much better.
The protein falp jacks are also pretty good, although more like a cake bar imo, good for a quick high protein snack.

Depends what you want the protein for; weight/muscle gain or recovery etc. and there's a fair bit of difference there - and I'm no expert. I personally use protien mostly for recovery from my weekly routine of 6 to 10 mile runs, plus one or two monster mtb rides, but also to help build strength.
I reckon the most important thing is how it mixes & tastes because, TBH if it's foul then no matter how much good you 'know' it's doing you, you'll struggle to be bothered with it when you're proper knackered - i.e. exactly when you need to take it. Since mix and taste a very subjective, it's probably best to try a few out first before buying in bulk. (A tip I was given was to add a little milk in stead of just water, to help the mix.)
I've tried the MP stuff and it's very good - mixes nicely and tasted good. I've also used Zipvit stuff - they're based next door but one to one of my businesses (the boss drives a red Enzo on high days & holidays, so he's obviously a fellow petrolhead too!) and although I really rate their ZV1 and ZV2 energy drinks, I don't quite like the recovery shakes as much. They do, however, do some very tasty (and handy) ZV9 protein recovery bars.
They supply the Cervello Test cycle team: Zipvit

I can't recommend this enough, http://www.bodyactive-online.co.uk/Shopping/PdGarn... and everyone I have got to try it loves it.
Decent protein content and more importantly it tastes great. There is nothing worst than bad tasting products.!
Peace out.

Just take a good multivitamin like orthocore and have a good diet with lots of exercise.
Not being funny but how is a multivitamin a viable alternative to protein shakes?Protein is protein it doesn't really matter whether it is from a shake or a chicken breast, its just that usually its cheaper and more convenient to have a shake after training as carrying chicken breasts around with you isn't always ideal!!
Actually I also think the opposite to your post, you shouldn't need multivitamins if you have a good varied diet and plenty of exercise.

There is also evidence to suggest that taking vitamins in a pill form renders them next to useless. Getting them from food is far more beneficial.
