Damn you. Mine's playing up too. I'm on antibiotics and strong painkillers. Got my appointment on Wednesday for an ultrasound scan.
Is the blood-taking necessary? I have an irrational needle phobia and would rather this were sorted without the use of sharp, stabby things?

Mates wife had this, they had a bit of a think about it then whipped her gall bladder out.
Done by keyhole surgery, but if they have trouble they reserved the option to cut her open.
While she was waiting, she was told to avoid
1. Fatty food
2. Alcohol
3. Spicy Food.
Took it out? I thought the problem was gall stones which can be laser'd?Done by keyhole surgery, but if they have trouble they reserved the option to cut her open.

No bloods taken at the scan G....so no need to worry. However, if am honest, the scan was bloody sore at times, and took over 15 mins in totalIs the blood-taking necessary? I have an irrational needle phobia and would rather this were sorted without the use of sharp, stabby things?

Perhaps this is more serious than I gave it credit for. I'm hoping it's just an infection sorted out by the antibiotics. The painkillers are brilliant though.
Penny, get ye onto MSN, I have some questions.

I'm booked in on Fed 6th for my op, so I'll let you know how it goes if I live
Cheers,

Okay, the fact you've never posted again on this thread is beginning to worry me a little Cheers,
Rob
Right, not far of 2 months down the line and a is good, not had any pain since recovering from the op, had it on the Friday, took the follwing week odd and went back to work on the Tuesday, 135mile round trip commute. Op was successfully done by keyhole even though I was one of those awkward 1 in 10000 cases where the gall bladder is basically enveloped by the liver so extraction was trickier. As a result I was in a fair bit of pain once the anaesthetic had worn off so I ended up staying in hospital for a couple of nights munching on paracetamol and brufen. I was happy to get home though as wards are fecking noisy places with lots of mad people in them!! Apparently I had a stone in the duct post op, they did an X-Ray during to see. I was told before hand that if any were found they'd fish them out. They decided not to so I spent a couple of weeks worrying if I was going to have a pain attack but fortunately the stone must have snuck through. The really worst thing about the op though was when I was coming around from the anaesthetic I was dreaming about work, bloody hell!!!
So it's all OK, yes all ops are risky but I'm happier now knowing I won't have the pain anymore!
Cheers,
Rob

You'll not be worried about the keyhole then....Is the blood-taking necessary? I have an irrational needle phobia and would rather this were sorted without the use of sharp, stabby things?
Bad luck Chum, not nice to have
My partner had her gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery about 18 months ago.She was home the same day and has never suffered any gall bladder related problems since.
Sounds quite a major proceedure but the surgeon did 3 removal operations during the morning she was in hospital, and Im told he spent the afternoon on the golf course!

Well am home, and thankfully have 4 small insertions, rather than one huge cut
Everything went as planned, and apart from a bit of pain in my stomach when am getting up and down everything seems fine. Plus if I feel like it, I can drink alcohol from today
Extra bonus....lots of eye candy at the hospital
