The gym or should I call it a health club/country club now, has had a huge influx of NewYear 'School Run Mums' turning up at 9:30ish to have a general chat about who’s doing what, why, when and what for.
I don't watch Eastenders or Corrie but I get the gist of the story lines now as they shout it from whatever machine they are sitting or leaning on, I also know that Jane, Sally’s Mum is a sl4g, and Lilly’s Mum is sh466ing behind her Husbands back.
They are all kept Ladies that lunch, wear all the best gear, makeup and jewellry, WTF are they doing in the Gym, surely they can go and jangle in a Costa or the like.

shout Why don't they just foooooooof offff.

I would like to meet Sally’s Mum though. whistle
Hold on. Someone of your size trains in a lifestyle gym?? I imagined you'd train in a warehouse surrounded by rusting iron plates, sweaty men and cans of WD40.

Maybe the swans belong to gangsters. Dangerous, swans. Clever that, there's no Dangerous Swans Act is there. You can take un-muzzled swans with you for self defence and no one can stop you. Expecting trouble? Better be packing a swan.

Guns for show, swan for a pro and if someone needs taking out quietly there's always the mute.

Swans. Don't fk with them.

What is Sally's mum's number?

DL War has good kit, they need to replace those powerbags though.

I'd take your swans on with a couple of geese.

Common moan. There's a middle-aged chap who comes in at the weekend with the papers. Sits on a bike for about 45-60mins, pedalling at the same constant rate. A pedalling cadence of somewhere between 20-30rpm. I have to bite my tongue, especially when doing HIIT on the elliptical!

Oh well, at least he's doing something!!

Either superset so say bench press/squat or lat pull downs/shoulder press or do pyramids and start high weight low rep and work my way down until i can't push anymore.
Do you know what a superset is? You certainly don't superset squats with bench press.

A superset is about hitting the same muscle at 2 different areas/angles. As for worrying about hogging the machine/bench whilst resting, then don't. Just concentrate on recovering and getting your mind and muscle connection ready for the next set.

My understanding is that a superset does not need to target the same muscle groups. Two or more exercises performed consecutively with little to no rest constitutes a superset.

Not been to DL War for 4 years now, shame because I liked it, is Dangerous Dave still alive?
I have not trained in Smithys Gym shown in your clip, but I have visited Winwick and it was me with the phone doing the footage, and not me doing the thrusting.
I was there today, I go sometimes. It does have good kit. Has a power rack. DD the guy always in red? Talked to his hand like a phone, and shouted at things? I used to see him in Total Fitness, doing some sort of row on the lat pull-down cables...scary....
I'm from Winwick... biggrin
Which gym you go now? Pure looks good, if I jump ship from DL, that'd be my prime choice.

That's how I understand it, hence doing chest then legs then back to chest.

I was expecting the new year noobs this week but surprisingly the gym was quiet, just the way I like it.

Then on Friday there was a bunch of them. Being shown how to squat by 2 other lads Ive seen there often. Good on them I thought!

Then they went onto leg press and their form was awful, and the lads showing them didn't say a thing! Locking legs out at top and pushing on knees with their hands! The lads showing them didn't say a thing either.

Yes, red shorts once had huge legs, strange heavy dangerous lifting style, he is sadly ill and not getting any better. I sort of lived in Winwick but I was thrown out in 98/99 when it closed, I was re-housed at Ashworth then the Brooker. I now know who you are, nice to put a face to a name. biggrin
Crazy style. His curls looked like bouncy cleans. I think he was asked to leave.
Hello! Where do you train now? biggrin

Well why bother super setting then?

What's the point in say hitting chest for 8-10 reps and then upright rows for 8-10 reps? I maybe wrong, but to me there's no way I could hit both muscle groups enough to break them down. I can see a benefit for getting a little fitter but as for getting any bigger I just cant see it.

If I do supersets, I always target the same muscle. For instance if doing chest I will go a bit lighter and combine dumbbell presses with dumbbell fly's. After all we want to break down the muscle don't we? not hit two separate muscle groups and be two knackered to do them both justice.

I do stand to be corrected thoughsmile

I've never heard of a superset being performed how you suggest Warnie. Is that your interpretation or did someone teach you that?
