Hi all, thanks for asking after me , been a strange week with ups and downs, but finally had some ups, got taken to driving range which made me smile and had the pleasure of Barny and Anne coming over today for pizza, x box and red dwarf, so I've gone from not wanting to seeing anyone to actually being socialble! I'm doing weekly online cbt which I'm finding useful, my biggest stress at the moment is being signed off and no money, housing Benifit claim still ongoing, and I can't face seeing my kids and ex yet, baby steps I guess, hope everyone is doing ok? Keep smiling guys , rob

How are things this week rob ?

Just read through this thread the bad side and seeing the good side of people helping in the darkest of times.
Its good to see pistonheads helping out. As I have recently been diagnosed with depression and anxiety and am
finding it all quite hard and unfamiliar. Its good to know a place to let it out when needed.
Hi buddy hope this helps but I was at rock bottom, and it was the kindness of people on here that pulled me through, I didn't reconisge I was depressed until nearly too late, I and I'm sure others understand how you are feeling, please please keep posting on here we are all here for you

Hi all hope all is well, sorry for lack of replies, it's been a strange week, would like to update what's going on as hopefully this might help other people, so.... I'm still doing online cbt which I'm finding helpful gives me some homework to do which gives something to focus on, rather than stuck in bed, and also identifies key areas to work on, currently for me it's getting sleep and diet in a good place, healthy body, healthy mind, as I'm posting this at 5am you can see I'm still working on it!.
I've found it very hard to be motivated to leave the house, what has helped is explaining fully to my friends so they have an understanding and in fact have been coming round and forcing me to go out! I can recommend top golf for a good evening out! On a practical level money is a big worry but thanks to the advice on here I'm in process of trying to get housing benift, due to being off work sick pay only, this has caused big issues with my ex as I have always paid monthly towards kids but currently not able to.,my regret is not informing her in advance (was unable to face her) but with a clear head I can see how this loss of money will effect her. So what am I learning? Surround yourself with the right people, talk and talk and talk about how your feeling, remember if you have a broken leg it's obvious you are sick and unable to perform normally and people accept it,mental illness is exactly the same just invisible and people don't always get it, or understand. I've recognised I need to get out of the house more, not always easy but at least I know what I need to do, so baby steps I'm not pushing myself, I know it's a journey to get better, but one I wouldn't be on if not for the caring and support from the people on here!
Sorry for the long post hopefully it comes across in a positive way and maybe helpful to others, Rob

So got an email from the ex saying that I must pay towards the children or she will go to the csa, I previously left her a voice mail explaining my situation, being on statutory sick pay means I can't pay my rent unless I get the housing benefit, so stressed out now, looking online she would o ly be entitled to 30 a month, I'm just so upset she can be so cold, she clearly has no understanding of how depression effects people, can't think straight, how do I reply to her, what do I do

So got my housing association back, £13 a week! This was based on last pay slip which was part sick pay, part wages, so I now need to wait till end of November to show them another payslip which will be just ssp, another stress!

'Morning Rob, good to see you're OK. I haven't posted lately as I can see there are others with personal experience who are helping you - and you them. It's good to see that in 'Health Matters' there are sincere people willing and able to offer genuine help and support, I was dismayed to find an idiot trolling here earlier in the week. All the best.
.always good to hear from you!

Morning all, so update so far : finally spoken to work, they couldn't of been nicer and are coming to do a home visit, they said it's not about work but I'm part of the family, no way I could of spoken to them a week or so ago, doctor has been very supportive which is also helping. Cbt is really helping me, the best way to explain it for me is that it's treating the brain like a muscle, and the more your exercise it (eg good thoughts, right decisions) the easier it is to maintain good habits, of course there's good and bad days but definitely progress for me smile.

One last thought I had this morning, might sound strange but I was reminded of the film sliding doors, that each decision has a consequence, do I go for a walk or stay in bed, do I make that phone call or ignore it, do I eat healthy or have that pizza, (healthy body healthy mind another thing I'm learning)I hope that kinda makes sense I'm finding it useful to think of all the good things that can happen when I make the right decisions, oh and Btw the odd pizza is fine!

Thanks for all the support and asking about me smile always appreciated and keeps me going

Good tnx Rob , great to see you getting things sorted out , genuinely chuffed for you . We're into the minus temps now and will soon be up to our arses in snow but that's not all bad , from + 40c to -40c tends to give us dramatically different lifestyles and challenges each season .So long as the sun is shining being outside when it's minus stupid degrees isn't too bad , the snot in your nose freezes instantly and the liquid on your eyeballs can quickly follow suit , and then we have the windchill factor on top which I've seen equate to -56c , not much works at those temps . Would I move? hell no .
Regularly check on here Rob , you're not on your own .
Do you know what? That sounds like a perfect holiday, get away to me!

We have Canadian Agribition and Pro Rodeo here next week , largest farm show in Canada , there be lots of Brits coming over for it . My wife is one of the official photographers so it'll be somewhat hectic I reckon , you ever been to a rodeo ? Youtube some bull riding , bucking horses or the barrel racing which is especially easy on the eye , a different world Rob .
Wow, wow and wow if I had the money I would be there like a shot!!
