Don't ask "who drinks 10 cans of coke a day" - an ex colleague was drinking so much I swear he fizzed whenever he opened his mouth.
My thick as sh it ex sister-in-law for one. Was mainlining 8 cans of full fat coke a day and couldn't figure out why she looked like a whale. Ended up in the Priory. Came out having cost my BiL £20k in fees and 5 minutes later was seen with a can of coke in her hand. Which is one of a number of reasons why she is now an ex SiL.Ken Sington said:

lol, that's my sister right there. She's been on a diet the past 33 years and to be fare, she's lot a lot of weight by the end of the week then puts it all back on on her "pig" days where she can eat 20,000 calories. She makes lovely cheesecakes, I had a piece asked her what was in it. When she told me I put it down, the whole cheesecake was iro 15,000 calories.33 years and she still persists with the diet.
I'm 34... Was heavily into weight training and dabbled in Crossfit. I used to eat like the OP has described. Absolutely paranoid about protein intake, and I had lost all concept of what a 'normal' portion looked or felt like. I was extremely overweight and pretty unhappy with my body, even though I was 'eating right' and exercising hard.
I was diagnosed with Gout two years ago. It's bloody painful and I have had to make some lifestyle changes... Actually for the better. I knocked the heavy weights on the head - Unless you're competing, who really cares if you can bench 130kg or 'only' 110? I've drastically reduced my protein intake and now eat 'normal' size meals. I still hit the gym and use free weights at high reps, I've fallen back in love with cycling and skiing - two things that had become difficult for me.
My muscle mass has barely changed, but I am lighter, leaner, happier and way less stressed. Clothes fit me properly again, and I can tie a shoelace without passing out - which is a bonus.
Re-reading the OP, it doesn't sound like there are a lot of vegetables in that diet! Maybe eat some green stuff?
Also, gut health can have a massive effect on metabolism. Perhaps try looking up pre and pro-biotics, and adding some things to your meals. I just use honey and bang an actimel after dinner.
Nobody needs that amount of protein, not unless you're injecting steroids into your arse cheeks
Like 20-30g per meal, three meals a day is fine... You'll get a little bit extra from things like grains, nuts and beans anyway, but you absolutely will not be missing out on anything by dropping your protein intake. It's all rubbish perpetuated by the supplement industry... Unless you're juicing, it's actually a big ask of your body to process it.

Eating a lot less protein now. 1 chicken breast at a time. More brown rice to compensate. Although the last few days have been spent in Sicily so all semblance of a healthy diet went right out of the window.
Something occurred to me. Last March I was prescribed SSRI antidepressants. I was on 40 mg a day (Fluoxetine). I tapered that down to 20 mg a day before Christmas, and now weaning myself off. I have a feeling that the medication could have had a significant effect on my weight and/or metabolism. It may explain the sudden weight gain. I had initially lost weight during the early stages of the depression but that came back on after a few months, and then onward and upward.
Might be something, might be nothing.

Some of the healthiest and tastiest food in Europe is found in southern Italy, in particular Sicily. It's called the Mediterranean diet. I've lived in this region, not far from Sicily for more than 10 years.Silver993tt said:

Yes, but when you're on a work trip, operating on a strict timetable have spent 14 hours battling Sicilian traffic and insane country roads, you haven't had any lunch, you're exhausted and you just want some filling food before you hit the sack to do it all again the next day, you order a pizza and two large beers. Well, I did. The Spruce goose said:
I wouldnt say that is a good example as anyone with any sense can see eating high energy foods on a diet will require strict portion control, protein and lean meat not so much. The video is using fats and oils to make a point.
People don't have sense. They think nuts and granola are healthy so slam them back when snacking because they think it'll be fine.MacGee said:
bks! The average food indulger will think they are assisting their weight loss by partaking something that has the name DIET. Why would a big rich company use such a word. Only a moron would think otherwise.
Chubby Brown...the F plan diet tastes fking great with chips!
You are joking I hope. I've never even imagined that anybody would interpret 'Diet' as anything other than 'lower than otherwise'. Coke is never going to reduce your weight, just make it a little easier to cut down the calories.Chubby Brown...the F plan diet tastes fking great with chips!
Update
Quick recap. I posted asking for advice after seeing my weight increase from 14 stone to about 15.5 stone over the period of a couple of months late last autumn. Simply couldn't work out what was happening as my diet hadn't changed, and my exercise levels were high.
As of about a month ago I had got it down to about 15 stone.
Weighed myself yesterday and a shade under 14 stone.
Again, nothing has changed, really. I don't walk to and from work anymore, but i am cycling more. Dropped the once weekly weights sessions completely though. Still eating the same.
Odd

Think your earlier post about the pills, probably nailed it. One or two posters on this thread alluded to the fact the your body will metabolise food very differently in times of high stress/ anxiety or depression. Quick recap.
