I recommend EFT, anyway. Just tell him to try it with a closed mind.
Like this? (Yeah I know it is a horrible youtube vid with an irritating American woman) - but I think I get your drift regarding a closed mind. TheExcession said:

FWIW I'm with him on the woo front, take reiki for instance (http://www.reiki.org/faq/whatisreiki.html) what plausible mechanism could it work through? The usual excuse from enthusiasts is that medical science doesn't know everything, which is obviously true, but that doesn't mean that any old st is possible.
Hopefully if he finds TENS helpful he can come round to the idea that peripheral stimulation can alter what is basically just the brain's misinterpretation of what is going on.

Reiki may very well be woo, but whether placebo or not it has helped me many times in the recent past when my meds have not been enough. It was hard trying to keep a straight face when the lady was muttering things, waving her hands around & generally looking silly, but I have to say I felt a real benefit the first time, & all the other times I have tried it.Hopefully if he finds TENS helpful he can come round to the idea that peripheral stimulation can alter what is basically just the brain's misinterpretation of what is going on.
The white sage that is used to "cleanse" the room before she started smells bloody lovely as well when it is alight and sending out it's aroma.
Placebo or not, I will have it again should the need arise.
