I had this same thing and it turned out that my dentist a couple of years back had put a filling in that was too big and basically cracked the tooth.

Get yourself to a dentist, I did just in time to save the tooth (after a gold crown).

Saw the dentist today. He said he could see nothing wrong with the tooth other than on the xray the filling is a bit close to the nerve, hes going to replace it. Got to have a right sided molar remove as its in half, a couple of filling here and there and a chip on my front tooth repaired.

Cant say I'm looking forward to any of that but good news none the less. Thanks for all of your advice guys.
