I wondered where this thread had gone.
Our little boy is 3 weeks and 1 day today. He's a little star, but we're having a few troubles with breast-feeding at the moment. He was doing great until a couple of days ago, now just seems to struggle latching on and doesn't seem to be getting enough milk.
Last night was a bad night. My wife was up most of the night, and in the end I had to take him at 5am and sleep on the sofa with him on my chest. It was lovely, but not ideal when I'm up at 7 for work.

D-day for us today. Will report back late. Nerves kicking in!

We had a tough 24 hours with feeding yesterday. Molly will be 8 weeks tomorrow and had never had problems feeding but hadn't fed properly since 5pm Wednesday evening. All she did was scream at me, it was heartbreaking. My husband was working nights so had no support either.
Ended up at the GP who couldn't find anything wrong, then at 10pm last night she suddenly decided she was starving.
Maybe it's just the weather upsetting them?

Theres a lot of pressure with the whole breast feeding thing. We had a lot of difficulty and despite our efforts ended up supplementing with formula just to ensure baby received what was needed.
It ended up being a very good things as the OH was able to start enjoying those precious early weeks without all the screaming and feelings of inadequacy that were starting to creep in...
We wont be so easily 'bullied' by the breast is best brigade next time round, it's about striking the right balance. Not all babies take to breast feeding the same way.

I think you're absolutely right and this weekend we'll probably either top him up with formula, or if my wife can do it express some milk so that I can feed him.It ended up being a very good things as the OH was able to start enjoying those precious early weeks without all the screaming and feelings of inadequacy that were starting to creep in...

Yeah we did some expressing too...
As a Dad, getting to feed your child is an incredible experience. I remember her little eyes blinking up at me in the middle of the night as she guzzled gratefully. Magical stuff, but surpised how many blokes never got to do it!
Im on to baby rice aeroplanes now....

Ours is 7 months now. Has been bottle fed since the start so I have managed to do my fair share. He eats like it's going out of fashion and has just started to learn how to feed himself biscuits. Wouldn't change a thing about him

Here he is modelling a hat

Can echo the comments about persisting with boob. If they aren't getting enough then a bottle of formula at night will help with sleep. Best to start either expressing early on using formula so that they get used to mum and bottle at the same time. For us Joseph wasn't to happy at 4 months to try something else to get his milk.
We are currently on holiday in Cornwall and the wife got to spend one night in the local maternity ward at 31 weeks. Only 7 weeks to go now.

Delighted to announce the arrival of twin baby boys Oscar (7lbs4 / 3.39kg) and Senan (6lbs04 / 2.74kg) born Monday last - 5th August. All doing really well after a long, challenging birth.
Huge congratulations.Edited by Irish on Monday 12th August 06:15
All growing well here. He's kicking and wriggling as he develops and my wife's baby bulge is rapidly expanding.
What a great process!
