Apparently it can spontaneously happen to young, tall, thin men

It's probably best to keep your blood pressure and heart rate down mate.

In the words from a Steve Martin film - I recomend 60 year old nuns and dead kittens!

get well soon mate.

best

Bit of an update ladies, gentlemen and mungo

Went back to A&E for another X-Ray, the lung has reinflated well and seems OK. I can't do anything involving exercise or pressure changes for a month, so that rules out football

I still keep getting some twinges which is a bit scary though

The bad news however is if it happens again, I'll have to have surgery on both lungs as a precaution

Glad to hear it's OK.

Just remember not to do too much.

Hope you make a full recovery soon.

All the best mate - just take it easy. I'm 6ft 3 so you've opened my eyes a bit. Seems there's something out to get you around every corner!

It's more if you were tall and skinny quite young, as Flasher told me anyway.

You wont neccesarily have to have surgery on BOTH lungs. just the one with the problem. I have had the surgery and although I have had complications, for most people it's a six days to two week recovery period followed by 6 weeks of careful excercise and care.

The problem does start at a young age but can cause problems at any time in life. Smoking is the main cause of problems occuring.

As for me being tall and thin, well I was when I was younger (to the age of 25) and now I am again, having lost 3 stone in 8 weeks!!

I'm back in to hospital again tonight and hopefully I will have my chest drain removed this time and get the all clear. My blood tests have come back clear too.

The best Christmas present I could ever have is being set free tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
