Insanity Workout
Discussion
Todays was a re-run of the pylometric cardio circuit. Might just be because I've done it in the morning rather than after a full day at work but I feel like I've made a breakthrough. Was able to take far fewer breaks and push a lot harder right to the end.
Feeling pretty pleased with that!

Funnily enough I have just done the poly for the 2nd time and felt much better doing it.Feeling pretty pleased with that!
Good work keep it up.
Realised I dropped a bk and should have done pure cardio yesterday, and pylo cardio today.
So today was pure cardio ... it absolutely slayed me!
Wish I had pushed harder today, but even Shaun T had to take 2 breaks today, and was forgetting the names of the moves... so I don't feel so bad
Really getting a sense of satisfaction completing each session now.

Personally I reckon weight lifting will give you quicker gains for far less time and effort. If pictures are anything to go by some of the weight lifting programs get far better results in terms of sheer weight loss.
Insanity just seems to work on the basis of throwing in as much cardio/movement as you can and hoping you get fitter (which you will).
The fitness test looks tough as do the workouts. Where this might trump weightlifting is on improved stamina and mobility.
I am probably going to give some of the workouts a go because I like the fact that they have mobility type work as opposed to straight up running/cycling.

Whether Insanity has any impact on my weight/fitness remains to be seen (only done the first week), however I think its personal taste really. With Insanity I don't have to pay for a gym membership, and motivate myself to go to a gym and work out/lift weights infront of other people, then drag myself home. Or rather buy some weights for home and regiment myself into lifting the correct weight on the correct day, in the correct way.
With this I can come home, get changed, read a chart and see which DVD I do today. Put it on, follow the instructions, and 45 minutes later I am done and dusted.
But I can appreciate that for others, they can think of nothing worse
2 weeks in and this is ruining my legs! So sore!
Don't need to lose fat or weight. But do need to improve stamina and mobility, especially in the lower body. In the pool I don't have a strong kick, I rely on shoulders. It can get tiring on long swims so being able to bring the kick in without it knackering me is what I am aiming for.
Having to be very careful with this though. I struggle to keep a certain weight normally, so doing this and swimming I can find myself losing many lbs in short order. Must eat like a horse to stop this.

Oh and yeah, plyo cardio circuit is a complete bh. Pure cardio however is lovely. Which seems opposite to what Mr T thinks.
Its the jumping that gets me though... Basketball jumps, globe jumps (these are so gay!) power jumps ( with that black guy at the back channeling the spirit of bambi!!!) and squat thrusts! Damn!!!

Agree! I like pure cardio because you just get your nut down and grind through it!Its the jumping that gets me though... Basketball jumps, globe jumps (these are so gay!) power jumps ( with that black guy at the back channeling the spirit of bambi!!!) and squat thrusts! Damn!!!
I did the fit test and failed at Globe Jumps (5th exercise).
Although I have lost fat with weightlifting, not really surprised my cardio is poor as I haven't had a regular cardio session for over 3 years.
Mobility is also poor - so whilst I won't do the program as recommended over 60 days I will definitely try the sessions amongst all my other fitness work.
Its very handy having the DVD to follow for timings rather than trying to organise it yourself.

Just one more day left in week two.
Pure Cardio followed by Cardio Abs.
Do people tend to do the cool down in pure cardio or skip it and go straight into Abs?
Does Abs have a warm up session as well?
I've just about stopped aching all day the day after now as well! - Maybe i'm not pushing myself hard enough......

Right, another Insanity victim reporting for duty.
After a good 2 years away from regular exercising (apart from my mountain biking) I'd put on nearly 2 stones so I started back at the gym a couple of weeks ago. Cardio at the gym normally bores me senseless, so thought I'd give Insanity a try so I can feel not quite as guilty when I'm forcing myself onto the treadmill.
Anyway, I'm 5'10" and around 13st 5lb (85kg) so could really do with getting back down to my previous 11st 8lb'ish or even less.
So, first fit test tonight, which I was slightly dreading after reading some of the posts on here. Actually found it not too bad - clearly my form wouldn't have overly impressed Shaun T, but it certainly wasn't disastrous.
Results of 1st Fit Test
Switch kicks - 120 (singles)
Power Jacks - 45
Power Knees - 70
Power Jumps - 36
Globe jumps - 7
Suicide Jumps - 13
Push Up Jacks - 3 plus 6 'cheating' ones using my knees
Low Plank Obliques - 30
I'm going to blame the stunning lack of Push Up Jacks on being at the gym on Sunday and feeling it today. At least it gives me a low base to start from!
