I seem to have found a rhythm now where I lose 300g a week without obsessive tracking. It was useful at the start, but now all I do is weigh every morning with my teeth brush, which takes 2 seconds and is a useful nudge.

At this rate i should hit my target weight around mid march. Then comes the challange of sustaining it. Hopefully will be a bit easier in Spring time.

Bit of a delayed re-start, but back in the game for the weight loss.

Key difference to how I felt Xmas/new year is I am more active. It’s just been been walks but regular ones & I’m ready to ramp up excercise now I’m not going to have to give up out of breath after a few minutes. Swimming pool next!

After being frustrated by unexplained weight gain last week, I'm down again. From 80.1, down to 79.5kg this week. Hoping to keep the losses going and the weight trending downwards. Basically almost reversed that whole 0.7kg gain from last week.

Dipped under 13st this week for first time in a few years. Although my weight loss is trivial compared with a few on here, I can definitely feel the benefits running and cycling. Just feel a bit less ploddy.

Have done some very honest MFP logging over the last month or so and have a chat with my PT on Wednesday morning, hope she's not too mean and comes up with some tweaks that I can incorporate. I've given up drinking for February which has certainly helped but need to stop the late-night chocolatey treats I think!

My first 2 week son this and a loss of 1.2 Kg. Not as much as I would have hoped but considered realism I think - I have walked more, avoided alcohol more and no milk in coffee (and I do a lot of coffee). Mrs still makes cakes which is tempting 9flap jacks and apple cake in the cupboard right now!!
When I say considered realism - mrs spent some time in hospital (blue lighted two weeks ago) and that resulted in a Big Tasty (it isn't) and a thick shake! Curry in the week as well! Oh, and a bit of a paddy by me that resulted in a double choc bars last weekend.

Improvement yes - scope for bigger stuff yes which actually do give me some confidence as I tuck into now a black coffee and a bowl of shredded wheat!!

seem to have stalled recently, seem to have been hovering around the same weight for the past two or three weeks.

On the positive side, I have just bought a new bike and have been out a couple of times so although my weight isn't moving as I'd like, at least my fitness is improving!

Practically starving meself (c. 500 cals daily) to get past this plateau and the losses are still hard to come by.

Miserable experience, nothing else works

Never ever going to work I'm afraid, in fact keep that up and you will pack it back on and more, 500 calories a day is going to raise all sorts of cognitive and physical problems, not sure why anyone ever thinks this is a good idea.

Really surprised I've lost anything this month, but 0.8kg is better than nothing.

Not really cycled much due to weather etc, but getting more done in the garden has helped.

Also started doing push ups, at first 15-16 was max but in a day I was managing 100 (I have strong legs not arms/torso), progressed to 60 (absolute max) and was doing over 200 a day. I've now put 10kg weight in a back pack and am doing sets of 20 - 25 four or five times a day.

OK.

I am Wacky Racer and I'm a compulsive eater. (With a nod to the AA)

I have decided now is the time for drastic action biggrin

If I go into the biscuit tin to get a chocolate digestive, I will return two minutes later and get another six. I could easily demolish a large family apple pie in five minutes, put a packet of crisps in front of me I'll not refuse them, even if I'm not hungry.

I am fairly fit, slim build, but like many blokes would like to lose flab from my midriff, nowhere else.

I don't really want to kill myself at the gym, (I have an expensive running machine, but hardly ever go on it), I just want to lose it gradually by cutting out the crap, and if I really put my mind to something I will do it.

I would consider buying a rowing machine, but would rather not.

What makes things worse, is since retiring I am not as active as I used to be, plus I am currently waiting for a replacement knee op, although I somehow managed to walk thirty miles in a day last year to see if I could still do it.

My Details.

Age 70

Height 5ft 8" (173cms)

Weight today 12st 8lb (176lbs)

Target weight 10st 8lbs (or less) in 12 months time.

Also I don't want to eat a load of stuff like celery, just basically cut down on portion sizes and completely cut out chocolate, cakes etc.

Anyone care to join me? if you would like to lose more great.

I can resonate with this. I'm in.

I'm 92kg now, i want the number to start with a 7, even if that's 79.999999kg.

I've just lost a stone in under 4 weeks. Eat less and make sure it's food you recognise as opposed to processed stuff. Keep the meals simple and avoid treats. Ease off the carbs. On saturday or sunday treat yourself to something nice that you'll really enjoy. The key is keep at it as your body will fight to go back to it's former weight.

You'll find that after 3-4 weeks you're definately more mobile and lighter on your feet, nimble.

Oh have set meal times and don't eat before them. Stick with the plan and it'll happen. Good luck.

You sound like me, albeit you're older and not as heavy.

I'm doing exactly what you are essentially. Exercise is walking and a half hour dumbbell session 3 times a week.

I also love sweets but I've made room for a small bar of dark chocolate each night in my calories calculations.

I do actually eat quite healthy but I actually enjoy the food which helps, but I'm not going to cut everything out either. Still enjoying my weekends mostly to the full, but takeaways are banished and I eat mindfully, but that's it.

I've lost a stone so far doing that. Saying that I don't think tomorrow's weigh in is going to be what I want to see, but I have had a couple of weeks where I've sort of caved in *slightly* along with some particularly heavy weekends, but fully intend to get fully back on board next week.

I'm not sure that's strictly true, but I must admit I've been fairly hungry fairly often since I started this endeavour, so there may be a little truth in that. You get used to it though.

Certainly I have heard it said that a good gauge of portion sizes is when you've finished before you actually feel full.
