Well, I was away working in London last week from Sunday to Friday and my evening meal at the hotel was a burger four nights out of the five! Still not done any meaningful exercise due to this awful cough which is now thankfully easing, so a slight gain from me, up to 89.5kg.

Steady at 76.1 kg again, including a weekend away where rather than be anal about every calorie I just ate what was given (staying with the out-laws) and did some exercise. I'm still finding my feet with getting enough food in on exercise days otherwise I feel wiped out the next day, but I'll get there.

ETA. For January I ran 15 times, covering 131km total. I did 9 Joe Wicks HIIT sessions (8 youtube, 1 live) and 3 gym sessions which amounted to 18 hours of exercise over the 31 days, or an average of 40 minutes per day. No bloody wonder I have been tired.

As I said on the dry january thread, I cracked and had 2 beers and a glass of wine,

Good news is, this morning I am the lightest I have ever been, 15.3.0, been hanging round 15.4 to 15.6 for ages and wasnt going to drink but had found before Christmas that I was losing more despite drinking at the weekends than I have since, so went all Jan without and was going to continue but the wife had a glass of wine after a bad day and I caved, had 2 beers (one 500 ml bottle of Moretti and a can of Stella) then a large glass of wine.

Partly was down to me being intrigued to see if my theory that alcohol in the past seemed to trigger weight to be shifted, now obviously I am not advocating drinking ten beers and a bottle of Scotch every night to help lose weight but occasional drinkign in moderation does seem to cause the scales to move down if a plateau has been reached, it is "a thing" apparently and correlates with what I have seen.

http://leanmuscleproject.com/how-whooshes-impact-y...

Been working hard and not seeing any movement, hovering between 15.4 to 15.6 but this morning I was 15.3.0 which is the lightest I have been, may be as alcohol dehydrates you but I had plenty of other fluids, a decent meal of Risotto, some chocolate for after and then had 2 crackers with cheese on later, not "voided" this morning either so I think there is something to this.

Proof will be over the next few days to see if I stay at or below that weight, will keep you posted.

I think it isnt for everyone and by and large no booze is better but will be interesting to see whether it is consistent and a few drinks can be used, occasionally to help, have noticed this in the past, gone to bed bladdered and woke up feeling really lean.

I have been hovering around the 13' 10 mark for 11 days now - determined to get it moving this week.

Still hungry as all hell.

Anyway - I have cycled or run a total of 172 miles in January.

Some drop from the 400 a month I would do 2 years ago. But more than the bugger all a month I was doing last year

Weigh day for me, 106.24kg (down 5.55kg or 4.97% from my starting weight). Another 2lb and I'll hit my first stone.

Crucially I've not suffered any loss in strength so far, the numbers I lifted before starting are still there. I've also noticed clothes fitting much better, belt is in a couple of notches and my cardio feels good due to the extra conditioning.

My body is in tune with the calorie deficit every day now (helped by tracking EVERYTHING on myfitnesspal and recording calories burnt on my Apple watch).

Last time I lost alot of weight I did it very quickly, numbers of 3lb and above p/week wasn't uncommon but I lost loads of muscle and as my wife put it 'I looked like a skinny teenager' - thanks for that. This time its coming off at around 1.5 - 2lb per week which is absolutely great. Yes it takes longer but I'll be left with a better result and retain strength. Hard to believe we are 4 weeks in now!

Down to 193.5lb now. Just had the first person in the office ask me if I’m losing weight, which is nice.

Can anyone join in?

I had to take a break from running due to an injury. Unfortunately the problem hasn't gone away and the lack of regular cardio exercise has meant my weight has crept up to 12st 4lbs.

I'm trying to get it back down to around 11st 7lbs or less.
I currently swim three times a week, doing about 180 lengths in total, and do some upper body weights in the gym three times a week. Can't run, cycle, row or walk far

My current diet technique is to stop eating pasta, pastry, rice and bread. Lunch is salad, avacado and chicken or fish. Dinners can be anything - omelette, salad...

Could do with a few more recipes or suggestions for low carb meals.
I have been using the Lean in 15 books that the OH got and seems to be going well on them. High in protein and low in carbs however some are much higher in calories than you would expect so just to keep an eye on that.

Weighed in this morning and for the first time in a while I'm sub 90kg. 89.4kg, happy with that so far although visually I don't feel like I've changedone that much if at all. Next goal is to get down to 85kg, will be extremely happy if I can manage that.

15.4 again, hovering around that 13.3 to 13.5 range, have been for what seems like ages now, its funny before Christmas it was consistent drops, now it is just teasing me.

Still belt feels dead loose, and in August last year knocking 18 stone if I said I would be 35 to 40 pounds lighter in Feb I would have been thrilled, lighter and fitter than I have been in years.

This is just how life and food is now, not going back to that if I can help it, just wish this last stone or so would start moving, but anything worth doing needs effort.

What me and the missus have started doing food wise is actually planning our meals for a week and doing a weekly shop rather than one every other day, it's saving us time and saving quite a bit of cash too. The only aspect really thats changed in my eating habits is that I've completely cut out processed sugars like sweets and fizzy drinks although never ate a huge amount of this to begin with I'd not think twice about buying a coke/mars bar or eat a huge pack of crisps and then there was the cheeky little offer on the maple pecan pastries....3 for 2 so naturally I'd eat the lot biggrin

Bad couple of days food wise for me - not sure if my body has just gone into revolt, but literally everything looked edible. Made some poor choices too, so will have to put some extra effort in this weekend. Got a long run on Sunday too, so need to make sure I eat right for that, or it'll be three hours of suffering.

Cant break through 15.3, changing things round a bit today, had some Porridge for breakfast, have been skipping breakfast but it doesnt seem to be making much difference.

Just getting annoying listening to my missus "Its the Protein shakes", i have one as a meal every few days, she is saying may as well have McDonalds Milkshake and it is hollow calories, it is certainly calories but they arent hollow.

her other ones are diet drinks make you fatter, no they dont, do the reading, they can, if you subconciously think you can have a big Mac and fries because you have a Diet Coke with them but they are near as dammit zero calories, so you are putting no energy in, so no, the "you may as well have a can of normal Coke" is frankly, bks, a can of Coke has 140 calories (not as bad as you would think) but it is still like 139 more than the Diet version.

Feeling quite pleased with myself today, weighed in at 105.68kg (16st 9lb) for a total loss of 13.5lb or 5.5%.

I think I've mentioned it before on here regarding rate of loss, my average over the past 4 weeks is a smidge over 3lb (although it is a little skewed by the first week or two dropping water etc.)

I originally set out with the intention of a low carb diet but I've since changed to a calorie controlled diet (tracking everything) which appears to be working for me, although I'll be the first to admit its not the cleanest diet, as shown in yesterdays lunch which was a battered piece of fish (no chips) - I'm not eating bread, potato, pasta, chocolate etc.

I have a couple of 'Fat shirts' that are a good measure that I've become a bit of a bloater once they stop fitting - I'm back in them, although another stone, possibly 2 needs to come off to get anywhere near my goals (Body fat low enough to show abs)

Interesting on the diet drinks. I was listening to something (R4 at night probably) which had a discussion on this. I heavily paraphrase the argument, but it was basically by putting calorie-free sweetener in (diet drinks, or in my case, sweetener in coffee), you trick the body into thinking it's about to get some quick burn calories and then when it doesn't, it throws a hissy fit and your brain ups the demands for calories again, so its not a direct calorie intake, but it's a causal link.

I listened up as I sweeten coffee through the day and while caffeine suppresses appetite, maybe the sweetener is making me eye up the donuts and sweets more than I realise. The only way to find out is to cut either coffee (no way!), or cut down the sweetener, which is tricky as the work coffee is pretty rank.

I've read that sweetener makes you crave sweet food and thus you do end up eating more to supress that craving so whilst directly you are taking in less calories when drinking a diet drink, you take in more calories elsewhere; so in effect your other half is correct.

It's ok, it's not just you. Not sure what it is this week... though I don't think the wifes birthday and the eldest daughter being back for a few days has helped...
