Anyone had a hair transplant?

I'm bald. I have the odd strand on top but really its gone. Back n sides intact fully. Is that even possible to get a decent looking head of hair? Iv already had smp so I suppose density could be less to avoid "shine through"
In my experience, it will depend on the quality of your hair at the back and sides, to be used for the transplant. You'd probably have to get the front done first and then the crown as part of a second transplant. Expect about 60% density at the front. It's an interesting point about the SMP. I wonder if that's a good way of reducing 'shine through'. Not sure if it's beneficial/would be needed, depending on how long you grow the newly transplanted hair. Thanks largely to this thread, I just placed a deposit on a FUE procedure to deal with loss on the front/mid. Looks like I may not have enough hair to do the crown but I can live with that so long as I can look in the mirror again. USD9500, so about 6K before Truss messed up the exchange rate! Will be back with pics mid-November.
I am a little scared.

You’ll be fine. I am a little scared.
It’s a long old day in the chair but pain free as the technicians use local anath on the donor and implant areas.
The first week post-op is rough. Uncomfortable, nights aren’t great, facial swelling.
The second week is bloody itchy.
After that, you’re good to go; just wait for the follicles to come through.

I would not be afraid, you should feel great post-op. During the operation I only felt real pain until the end of the second day. The two diazepam post-breakfast that the doctor gave me on both days helped me sail through the procedure. I am a little scared.
Once you have washed your head for the first time 48 hours (or whatever the doctor tells you to do) after the operation, you'll be well on the way but yes, the first two nights can be messy.
I did not suffer itching on the implanted area but I did get some painful spots where the hair had been removed from.

Anyone tried minoxidil tablets?
i was on minoxidil for years. Not sure if it actually made any difference as i can track my hair loss continuing gradually the whole time i was on it. Maybe it slowed it down but it's just conjecture. It messes with your testosterone so not sure it's a very good idea despite any vendor telling you it's very safe. I had some symptom or other one day and at the next routine check with the vendor they told me to stop taking the drugs and never resume. They weren't really terribly clear about why, however there was a long list of side effects which they say are red flags. So that was that...
Better than the other one that starts with a P as I only took that for a week and it just (temporarily thankfully) entirely deleted any ability to get a boner.

Are people really that bothered about going bald, they resort to surgery?
Super contribution. Does trying to shame other people make you feel better? Who is more insecure there then?I'm a baldy

I'd say yes, I've always had my hair cut on #2, #1 ad #0 all my life apart from when I was 13-17 where it was quite long, it started falling out at 17 and was almost gone by 21, I've had the "old man" hairline since I was about 22. It definitely hampered dating, my fiance said after a few messages that she usually wouldn't look twice at a bald guy but I must of stood out!
I have to Bic it every other day, I'd like to be able these days to cut it when I want maybe even to have grown it longer but cant because of the old man hairline. unfortunately for me, to get a transplant it would be a significant amount because of the amount of grafts I'd need.

As a bald man myself since 27 years of age, the thread intrigued me, it looks like I've stumbled into a hornet's nest.
Do whatever you think will make you happy, I'm pretty happy with the way I look.
I have seen some bad thatches in my time, it's not a good look, I hope it works for you guys -peace
