What Are Your Gym/Fitness/Routine Moans?

Well puregym had 3 instructions cleaning down everything, didn't look happy, 31 people out of 131 capacity. All o.k really. machines next to the ones being used were turned off. Air con was off as well.
Is that 131 pre lockdown capacity or 131 with all the social distancing stuff ?I think the only gym near us that's going to do well is the old council place as it's biggest .
What was a sports hall , sort of double 5 a side pitch sized is now split in 2 and they do spinning in one side and body pump in the other , the dance studio is now home to rowing machines , watt bikes and kettlebells .
There the only place big enough to do this though , most of the gyms are sort of a single level and there's nowhere to move stuff to.

Ours was back open on Saturday.
The various machines/equipment are spread out a lot more (actually works better this way). The work experience lad was having to go around and clean every station after somebody had finished and most people were doing pre- and post- wipedowns.

everything was pretty much the same except all the equipment was better spaced out. With certain things like benches having markings around them. It's great because even if someone who stinks gets on a machine that's right next to yours (which they don't do anymore anyway) they are still far enough away for you not to smell them.
also noticed them doing more regular routine cleaning.

This puzzles me a bit, but every gym seems to be indulging in frantic efforts to have the shiniest, cleanest machines. Why? Reassure the public perhaps? The virus isn't transported by sweat or dirt - it's in droplets from the nose or throat. I suppose if someone has the virus, feels well enough to exercise for the first time in four months, hits the gym and has a coughing fit into their hands then you'll want to clean what they've touched...but isn't this insane obsession with cleaning rather pathetic overkill? If people just wash their hands before/after using equipment the job's done. No?popeyewhite said:

Have you been paying attention during the last 5 months? At all?
Go on...I believe it's also possible to transmit the virus before you have any symptoms so feeling well enough to exercise is not a sign of not being infectious.
Lastly, you're seriously suggesting it's a better idea for everyone to wash their hands 10 times a visit rather than give each machine a quick wipe over with some form of anti-bac every now and again?
If it means we can keep heading back to normality then I'm quite happy for gyms to clean the equipment as much as they feel necessary.
If we'd had an "insane obsession with cleaning" a bit earlier on we might not have had such a st few months.

So somebody has to physically transport the virus from a coughing fit, to their hands, to the gym equipment by touch? It's not at all possible that in an environment where people are exercising and thus breathing heavily that it might end up on gym equipment without them even having to touch it?
Do people in your gym go around drooling over equipment? Why aren't all supermarket shelves washed down every hour? There will be far more infected people breathing heavily visiting a supermarket than a bunch of relatively fit people in a gym. A wipe every couple of hours would suffice, not every 30 mins as has been demonstrated at some gyms on FB. Centurion07 said:

So what? How will obsessive cleaning make a difference in that scenario? You need the individual to clean surfaces THEY'VE touched.Centurion07 said:

Yes, because they will touch stuff other than just machines. And it's not "every now and again" Centurion07 said:

Sorry you've had a bad time, but testing and masks would have been a wiser use of resources. Cleaning would have made next to no difference. Have you been paying attention during the last 5 months? At all? If we'd had an "insane obsession with cleaning" a bit earlier on we might not have had such a st few months.
Go and enjoy your gym, wash your hands before you touch anything AND after. Doing this is safer and makes any obsessive gym cleaning superfluous.

Imagine not knowing a thing about virus prevention some 5 months into a worldwide pandemic.
Now imagine letting the entire world know in the space of two posts on the internet.
This is just a car forum mate, it might seem the world to you, but as you shown - perspective isn't your strong point. Now imagine letting the entire world know in the space of two posts on the internet.
