Pah. Call it a cheat day.

According to MFP, I've eaten 1,297 calories yesterday and 1,261 calories on Wednesday. I'm not sure it's true but I'm gonna just eat whatever I want for a day (within reason)... if I fancy it I'll eat it... and record everything. I should have done this before. If the worst happens and I've eaten 3000 calories (really doubt it!) then I'll just pedal a bit harder and longer tomorrow. Also, it's weights day today.

Out of interest, how much are you eating a day according to MFP?

I don't understand what you are trying to achieve here dude unless you just want to have a day off? I have one day off a week.

To know what I'd normally eat and see if what I'm "normally" eating is actually fine. Yesterday, I ate about 1300 calories. But ultimately I want to get ripped. So should I eat lower, higher or continue as I am but exercise more? I am continuing with my weights routine.

Can you post your full exercise plan? Also are you wanted to eat this 7 days a week?

Ok, my exercise routine (which is subject to being increased depending on whether I meet up with others to train or climb):
Monday: 1 hour kung fu (consider it medium level cardio)
Tuesday: weights, 60 minutes
Wednesday: 45 minutes medium cardio including stationary cycling and HIIT
Thursday: 45 minutes medium cardio including stationary cycling and HIIT
Friday: 1 hour kung fu then weights, 60 minutes (I know it's the wrong way round but no way I'm lifting then training hehe )
Saturday: 2 hours medium cardio including cycling and HIIT
Sunday: 45 minutes medium cardio including cycling and HIIT

As for eating, Sunday is my cheat day.

Just joined it. Interesting site. It's good to keep track. Always had best results when I have done that.

Thats quite a bit of exercise buddy, I'd suggest you'd need a lot more calories.

How are you measuring fat loss? Also are you recording measurements/weight or whatever? If so post it here if you don't mind.

So my body is panicking over how little I'm getting and how much it's having to do?

I just look in the mirror.

If you say to do XYZ because it will get the results I want, I'll do it for a month and see how I get on... No, I won't kiss you. hehe

idea Time for a pint or two of cider!

Hoofy, I don't know how you survive doing all that and eating so little!

I tried to play football last night and didn't make it to half time, I was so knackered I had to go in net! I felt like you do when you've been playing sport all day and you hit 'the wall' at the end, but that was after a couple of runs!

I have just signed up to MFP after my disgruntlement at getting fatter. After entering everything I ate yesterday it comes to 3895cal, this may explain the weight gain and I didn't even eat that much yesterday as I was off work.

I appear to be getting more than adequate protein and fat in my diet. If I can manage it without feeling crap I'm planning to cut the carbs by a small amount each week and see how I feel.

Training is going well enough, no major increase in strength recently but I've been working flat out the last few weeks. Nailed some bits of wood on a board to hang off, plan being to increase grip strength climbing style and hopefully see a good improvement in deadlift.

I think everyone should spend time experimenting with different approaches to see how they affect their bodies but to do this you need to be at least a little scientific, measurements, pictures and weight can all be helpful, obviously if its about weight loss then more specific fat measurements like calipers and the advanced weight tests.

I'd advise you take a picture/measurements same time once a week at the very least to see how you're getting on and you may need to consider doing it for more than a month. I personally think 3 months is always a good measure of change.

When I'm dieting I'm still usually over 2.5k calories but everyone is different in size, metabolism etc.

Alright, will be a bit more scientific about it and eat more! Thanks for the advice. *pops down to kebab shop* biggrin

Certainly, it explains why one of my exes who was anorexic (she'd eat a chocolate bar for lunch and nothing the rest of the day! Sushi bars were great, mind... she'd pick one item from the dish and I'd have to finish the rest. biggrin ) had a bit of tummy (I mean it didn't stick out but you couldn't see her abs).

That said, my dad's abdomen was concaved for about 6 months as he was eating baby portions thanks to cancer... so if you try hard enough, you really can lose weight through low food intake.

I don't do anything so intense as 90 minutes of running round a pitch...

Going low carb but eating all the meat you want worked for me. I found meat filled me up if I ate it first, too.

Re increasing grip, definitely, if you do that and focus on hanging just on the fingertips rather than full grip until failure, you will build up the grip strength of a serial masturbator. biggrin

http://youtu.be/h_5pjXEOJoc

Edit: go easy at first, perhaps support the weight with your legs (semi-relax the legs) as hanging off fingers can be intense on the tendons/ligaments - you could injure your fingers and it'll take months to heal. I was hanging from one hand off a hold the size of two 50p pieces glued together (for want of a better description) - felt something go twang in my index finger and couldn't close it for months!

Legs will be semi supported for a while, initial testing confirmed I can barely hang on by my fingertips. Clever mounting has ensured I shall be able to dangle and watch tv smile When grip improves I can add thinner bits of wood to dangle off.

BTW I was expecting a video of the educational climbing type, opened that and had an involuntary chucklesnort. Other people looked at me strangely

Just heading out for a few beers now, I'll throw a pic up tomorrow.

Don't be expecting anything fancy either, just a few cuts of wood on a sheet mounted above the doorway. Does the job though smile

This was only 7-a-side and 20 minute halves!

Oh. I guess there is more running around? Surely it should be 5 though?
