So, the gist of that article is that obese people who don't have any obesity related illnesses don't have any obesity related illnesses?

A more constructive angle for the piece would have been "exercise has health benefits for obese people", pointing out that even if they fail to lose the weight, exercise will help mitigate the health risks. That's not really news, though, is it?
