hill sprints and sled push/pulls will sort you out if you are 45. I cycle and ran but they didnt work reduce fat around my waist. On the other hand it could just be genetics.
Can you give me some info on these? Well, hill sprints I can do (and being in Devon we've got plenty of hills!) but I don't know what sled push/pulls are. Googling gets me pictures of Huskies and chilly looking terrain.http://breakingmuscle.com/running/hill-sprints-how...
Sled pulls and pushes:

I do these in my gym which has a special 10m sled track - the link only shows the sled pulling but with upright bars on the sled you can do pushes too, so pull from one end with the rope attached of the sled track and then push it back again. Walk to the rope end and repeat. Then collapse.

Oh, definitely, my top priority is being able to have fun on a court and do it for longer.
Are you sure I was thinking more of the young lads with massive biceps who fit into skinny jeans.unfunctionally fit

Just abs exercise won't work. Focus on full body functional strength exercises and the abs will come quicker.
Pullups are actually an excellent abdominals workoutHoofy said:

If I cut bread and crisps, my belly drops fast. Couple of weeks see's the difference, but crisps seem to be the 'big one' for me. Problem is I fking love crisps! I also avoid potatoes.
You do know what crisps are made of?boyse7en said:
I've been trying to lose the extra bits from around my middle without much success.
Anyone got any tips on diet that would help? I've been doing some research but got lost in a sea of Low-carb, Low-GI, Low Fat...
I'm not looking for a Men's Fitness cover body, but a tummy that didn't stick out further than my chest would be nice
I'm 12 stone, 5'10" and exercise regularly.

Brisk, aimless walk every evening after dinner for around 45min - 1 hr unless doing other exercise (like a run, swim or gym session). Stick some headphones on and listen to podcasts or audiobooks.
Best "fitness" change I ever made (even when the walk happensto go past the ice cream shop.......) and I find it's also great as a de-stress from the day.

Just for balance, the main reason I do exercise are:
1) I'm vain.
2) I want to be a fit Dad and be able to run about with my kids.
3) I'd like to try and avoid self-caused illness. I can't dodge hereditary/predisposed stuff, but I can help myself not get a hip replacement at 50 by not being massively obese.
I listened to a lovely interview with a properly old guy - 70's at least - on a podcast called MarathonTalk and he was honest - he said he was doing exercise for vanity. Fair play.
I'm not sure I have much to contribute to the OP, and I do like Hoofy's logic. I must say that I found a three week, very clean plan helped me shift some weight, but it wasn't at all sustainable, so I'd only do it a couple of times a year to drop some pounds short term, then try and make changes that last a bit longer and don't make me a grumpy fker, while using those changes and the renewed energy from no calorie deficit to do more, or more strenuous exercise.
