Right, like I said I have fallen off the wagon a bit lately...

I actually made a bet (pissed) that I could lose 16 pounds in about 3 hours or something ridiculous but am actually looking to cut that last bit off my tummy (almost shifted it in November, but alas, christmas pudding has taken its toll)...

Looking at rolling maybe 15 minutes of cardio into the end of my regular 45 minute weight sesions. bad knee so running is a no go but i enjoy cycling...

So was wondering what the best cardio is for the 15 minutes for shifting the last of the turkey and pigs in blankets?
I found cycling sprints with some resistance worked very well for me, hiit has been a great addition to my training but if your knee is bad you could try doing it with swimming? I've not tried but short bursts of intense effort is all that is required.
My knee is bad only after a run. I could run 3 or 4 miles no problem but next day i'll be in the hurt locker...

I (don't mean to brag here smile ) am actually a superb cyclist (retained my leg strength from my 19 stone days) and is one of the few forms form of cardio I actually enjoy. Well, I enjoy it on the road, in the gym other than it being a prime location to see my favourite gym instructor doing her stretches I find it rather boring...

Would you say a minute sprint or climb followed by a minute of gentle cycling is the way?

These days I will do 1-1.5 minutes of flat out and then 30 seconds to a minute slow then repeat 20 times and obviously with some resistance but as you sound like an excellent cyclist (I'm not) with maybe a fairly high amount of resistance but either way at the end you should feel pretty exhausted if you're doing it properly.

Sounds like a plan. 90 seconds hill climb followed by 30 seconds flat, starting at 10 cycles and upping by 1 a day until im doing 20... Got my sister (studying biomechanics and psychology, so she can correct my form and shout encouraging slogan smile ) with me today so at least someone to distract me and talk too in my 30 seconds off...

Right, managed 8 cycles of 90 on 30 off... Was generating over 400W in my "on" and around 150W in my "off" but this fell to around 370W on the last couple of cycles.

Chest was pounding but the legs were in pretty good shape, bearing in mind I had done 2 sets 6 sets of 12 reps on the standing squat machine @ 145kgs.

Legs still work then smile Heart doesn't frown

Good man!

It's the work load that counts not the heights you can reach, it should always drain you like that!

Give it a couple of weeks an I'll smash 15 sets and keep it above 400W...

Missed this first time round (OP you mentioned in another recent thread so thought I'd go looking).

Incredible progress for such a short period of time, hell it's incredible progress for any period of time.

Always good to read these real life transformations - shows what can be achieved with some hard work and discipline.

Thanks Victor.

I'm actually entering another competition starting the first of next month. I had planned to cut down again after christmas excess and also my 'bulking' phase. I have gained a fair bit of muscle but I've also gained some fat too!

I've learned a massive amount more since the last challenge.

I think it may be interesting to see if I can successfully apply the new principles or if I will not get to where I want to get too in the next 3 months (length of the challenge)!

Anyway I will start a new thread since I'm always talking to a lot of people off here about training and have sent my old guide to over 300 PHers!

Missed this thread first time round. Great results. I'm looking to reduce weight and get fitter. Could you give some more info about the protein shakes. Are they suitable to help reduce bulk? Did you find any stores that were better value?

Thanks in advance.....

I get my protein shakes from myprotein.co.uk

I don't use them too much these days as my diet i more sorted but I do use one in milk first thing with some oats and one after exercise.

Protein is what your body uses to recover with but you've got to be careful you don't over do it as they contain calories!

I'm taking a new tack this time and going to try and get most of my protein from my diet as opposed to protein shakes. They definitely have their place but it is possible to get your protein from your diet alone, however it can be difficult at times to get enough from diet alone and that is where they are useful.

I try to consume at least 1.5g of protein per pound of body weight or around there.

Holy Thread resurrection Batman! what do you look like now? 10 years later?

I'm clearing out my bookmarks and must have book marked this for motivation when I was 29. I can't say I've got much healthier in the last 10 years, cut down on takeaways a little in the last 2, started running. but not much else.
