They'll do. Just so long as your mid-traps and rhomboids are kept up to par with your chest/lats so that you don't have your shoulders pulled forward to create issues in your upper back later on in life.That ape look that the muscle heads have in the gym.

How much do they weigh? Most 'home gym' weights are so light as to be pointless.Look at the old videos showing people like Frank Bruno weight training. Hundreds of reps, light weights. Because he was interested in fitness and speed rather than bulk.
