ok, didnt eat any junk when i was in last night but did have a fair sized meal. woke up this morning and am 12/7.5. i'm aiming to shift a pound every couple of days. let's see how much difference just not eating in the evenings makes along with the odd very poor attempt at running. i'll post the weigh-ins on here if anyone is interested.

I have lost almost a stone in the last month without trying.

I run about 20 miles a week - that's about it for exercise except I have started mountainbiking a couple of hours a weekend. I swing a 20lb kettlebell around but not seriously or for very long.

Breakfast is large bowl of porridge with some raisins thrown in, and a glass of juice or V8.

No lunch most days. Other days a sandwich.

Drink green tea all day - probably four or five cups.

Dinner is a chicken curry or chili with about four slices of brown bread.

I am starting to see a hint of an 'ab' poking out.

Maybe I should patent my 'diet'.

You could call it... the "Eat Less, Move More" diet, perhaps?

Indeed, the thing is I don't feel hungry. I think the porridge is the secret. The stuff expands and the 'porridge poos' are voluminous!

I've been nursing a knee injury for the last 3 weeks. While I was laid up I really craved rubbish food - pies, big stews, roast dinners, takeways etc.

Got back on the bike today seriously for the first time - what did I fancy for dinner? Chicken caesar salad. There has to be something there...

There most likely is to some degree, but it won't be the same for everyone.

I can be really good during the week but as soon as the clock strikes weekend o'clock, I really struggle. Typing this with whiskey in hand & about to eat again, even though I said to myself I was going on the wagon for a month or two & had a curry earlier (again, was going to have salmon but couldn't find the right thing to go with it).

To be fair I've just finished the remaining quarter bottle of Jim Beam, and have moved on to the Bulleit. Might need some pitta and houmous to satisfy the 2am cravings.

But last week I would have wanted bacon and cheese toasties. Probably more than would fit in my toastie maker.

The joys of sludge smilefrown

Last weekend was an Ollie Reid tribute as well as the Elvis one we both seem to have had. Totting up the calories wasn't pleasant.

I know I would have hit my weight target some time ago and would be trying to go up again (in the right way) if it wasn't for this kind of thing mad.

Bonus is that while I'm still losing weight slowly (down to 93kg now from 105kg this time last year) I'm definitely getting stronger.

Best mate has a 4 month old baby, weighs around 16lbs (he's a proper little porker!) and has started the "how long can you hold the baby out at arm's length?" challenge. He himself (father) is super-fit but only managed 35 secs. Triathlete mate managed 50 secs. I went over a minute and was still fine to go longer. There are secret muscles under this blubber!

There is nothing wrong with a bit of a cheat day as long as you don't use it as a challenge. wink

Yesterday, I went to a bbq and ate food I normally wouldn't eat.

Update time, just back from 2 weeks holiday where eating sensibly and 7km runs every other day has seen good progress and 4lbs lost. Now at 12-11, gut still there though albeit much smaller.

Target now 12-6.

Will be doing 100km+ cycle rides every week and one or two lunchtime runs.

OK down to 12-9. I need to put a bit more muscle mass back on now though. What's the best way to do this without putting fat on at the same time?

Up your calorie intake with good quality protein and a few more carbs then hit the weights, preferably not the machines. use free weights, dips, pull ups etc.
