Cough that's hanging around

Since Monday have had a cough that is dry and tickly. Gets worse at night, and consequently have had no more than 3 hours sleep each night. Just feel shattered.

Doctor decided it was a chest infection on thursday and prescribed amoxicillin which now means more frequent trips to the bog also. Joy.

Any ideas on what I can do, if anything to improve sleep at night. I feel like it would not be too bad if u was not as wipped out...

Coughing is better, but still bad enough to be disruptive at night...

If it's a dry cough try pholcodine linctus; it works to suppress the cough reflex and has a mild sedative effect so will help you sleep a bit better. Available over the counter in any chemist with a pharmacy counter, around 3 quid a bottle.
