Quite common with some metal spectacle frames. They have a lacquer coating which wears and then the nickel in the nickel-silver compound can cause quite severe dermatitis. Usually a nice green colour.
It does usually recover once the allergen is removed and we don't recommend anything in particular other than wearing something else.
I'd imagine a bacterial infection would look quite different, wet rather than dry and scaly.

A reaction to a metal wouldn't be 'bacterial'. If it is red and hot and spreading then it's time to seek help quickly. I'd imagine it's contact dermatitis, but I'm not qualified in anything.


Also putting steroids onto something 'bacterial' would have caused mayhem so it's unlikely.
