Hi

First time posting here.I have gained weight in the past 18 months and my neck and face has got fatter. Is there any specific way to lose weight here? My bottom and waist has also got fatter. I have gone from 32 inch waist to 36.

I was at wedding tonight and noticed when I got home and took my suit trouseres off that they have become torn in the inside leg(small tear) , the trouseres were a little tight ,anyhow having ruined a exspensive suit ,I'm determined now to lose wieght . I have started going to the gym twice a week using steps machine for 12 mins and cross trainer for 30 mins . Is this the right thing to do?

As I said I'm a novice when it comes to fitness- lossing weight.the search functuon doesn't work very well. Look faward to the responses.

Don't take this the wrong way but you're arse is getting fat and you're getting a second chin because you're getting fat. Plain old putting on some heft.

You can't selectively shift this because it doesn't quite work like that, plus you're only seeing the obvious bits. Other parts of your body are just as tubby, even if it might not seem like it.

So, what so you eat/drink & in what quantities? Plus, what do you do by way of exercise?
If you want to eat & drink cack, you need to move a fair bit, be young and/or have favourable genes, moreso if you want to avoid the long-term consequences aswell.

As stated; you cannot spot reduce. Reducing calories and increasing activity over time normally sees things improve (assuming no underlying medical condition). Good luck!

Which I tell people all the time.

It takes time and a *lot* of patience. I mean, a seriously major amount of patience. There are no miracle cures aside from surgery, and even that won't last if you don't have the diet/exercise routine nailed.

That's a good start. Consider lifting weights focusing on compound movements but do some research before you put your back out.

The bad news is, moobs and double chin are usually the last to go in my experience. As the others have said, you can spot train a muscle but you can't spot train fat. Just gotta beast yourself allround!

I'm utterly determined to ditch my double chin and moobs this year, fortunately my arse doesn't seem to pack it on as quickly hehe

FFS. Eat one kebab a day, no chips. That's it. Drink water. Enjoy weight loss.

Replace the coffee with water. You don't really need as much as you think.

As for the exercise, I'd be looking to do that much a day rather than twice a week. It doesn't really need to be a gym though; that sort of exercise is gentle enough to be replaced by a brisk walk or cycle. The important thing is to work activity into your day.

This can be as ridiculous as setting your default printer to the one at the other end of the office. You'd be amazed how much that adds up over the weeks.

Good.

There are far more knowledgeable people who lurk around this part of the world than me, but in my experience, getting the diet right is vital and the exercise is at least as much to do with intensity as type/duration.

So, doing 40 mins of gentle exercise a couple of times a week (which may not be the case for you, just an example) and then going home to pie & chips with a couple of slices of sliced white and a can or two of Guinness would be a fine example of pissing in the wind.

500
1000
200
150 (1 can)

If he didn't eat or drink anything else with any calories in them, he'd be fine and lose weight. 1850 which is less than an adult male's TDEE.

About 70% of my calories over the last 10 months came from pie and chips, fish and chips, sticky toffee pudding, curry and rice, chicken casseroles, sponge puddings, ice cream, etc. Not special Weight Watchers stuff but proper pub food. lick

Add up the calories, eat less than your TDEE.

Well its 0calories so for your purposes it shouldn't be a problem. The problem lies is when some people that are used to drinking regular coke (that contains calories) feel more hungry due to the lack of cals in the diet/coke zero. Some people tend to compensate for this by gaining calories elsewhere (like eating afew more biscuits, or putting an extra spoon or 2 of food on your dinner plate).

There are 139calories in a can of coke. Drinking the diet coke is all well and good, but a waste of progress if you're then recouping 139cals from elsewhere as you're just swapping one calorie source for another.

Just bear that in mind.

When all's said and done, if you're ultimately eating more calories than you require, you will store it as fat. Doesn't matter where it comes from - carbs, vegetables, meat, sweets.

As for diet coke, the only issue is the sweeteners they use. Some claim it increases your chances of cancer.

As to what ambuletz says, could be true re making you feel hungry but I've not heard that before so I remain on the fence.
