Just watched the 2012 running of Superstars, including clips of the legendary performance by Brian Jacks, and it got me wondering how many dips is regarded as a good score? Either out right so at body weight, or maybe with some weight related factor taken into account.

For example how impressive is Anthony Joshua's 50 at a bodyweight of c. 17 stone?

Yep I watched it too - for what it's worth I thought it was a piss poor effort from the Beeb from what was previously a great watch. But anyway, I thought Anthony's performance was outstanding for someone his size, although I guess the conditioning that he uses for his sport probably helped. I don't weigh anywhere near his 17 stone but I can squeeze out roughly 60 in a minute, just on bodyweight.

Aj......very impressive, long arms and high body weight don't make it easy but the bloke has some power! As seen in his 100m dash.

Yes, I thought he'd do well having seen clips of him training at the Team GB Boxing camp - including sprints and rope climbs, which is pretty good at his weight, but 50 dips at 17+ stone is better than I thought he'd do. Obviously a natural - as well as a well trained - athlete.

50 full ROM dips in one set is good for anyone and is considered to be a (old-school) measure of an exceptional bodyweight/power ratio.

50 reps or 2x BW- both very impressive.
