Post Hysterectomy advice needed
Discussion
Hi all,
I know i'm setting myself up here for a good telling off but i really need some advice,
I had a Full abdominal Hysterectomy (Ovaries, cervix ect) on the 26th June which was 22 days ago.
Now i know that its a huge operation and we're told to rest and lift virtually nothing for an amount of time, however being a mom and having a house to run i thought i was strong enough to carry on as usual....... So last Saturday i was pottering around in the kitchen, taking up curtains, hoovering, lifting my tool box etc
Very very stupid i know and WOW how i'm paying for it.
I now can hardly walk and unless i am laying a certain way i have horrendous pain in my lower left abdomen....The pain is as bad as that i had when i first came out of surgery.....It however goes completely as soon as i get into the "comfy position".....
I have Oramorph, Kapake, Tramadol and Ibuprofen......This combo makes me sleepy and high but doesn't get rid of the severe pain....
So the question is does anyone on here have any idea what i have done ????? Am i going to need more surgery to rectify the damage i feel i may have caused, or with enough bed rest will this "go away" ???
I really don't want to go back into hospital and before anyone points out the obvious i know i am a knob....
Any advice would be very much appreciated
TIA
Mel

Hello all
Thanks so much for the replies.....When i first posted my problem there didn't seem much response so i didn't think to look back here. Sorry again.
I didn't get it checked out as being "like a bloke" i figured with enough bed rest it would get better.
I contacted my doctors surgery and requested some more pain relief, so with the help of Tramadol, Oramorph, kapake and Nurophen plus and plenty of rest i seem to have gotten past the really bad pain.
I feel i'm just experiencing the normal pain for someone four weeks post op.
I do however feel a bit of a lump in my left side when i cough or laugh and i have to apply pressure with my hand to "support" the pain/lump (if you know what i mean )
I will mention this to my surgeon when i see him, which is in a couple of weeks time.
I think i may have a hernia but i'll have to wait and see.
I'll let you know how i get on
Thanks again for the advise, even though i read it a little to late

I almost mentioned the possibility of a hernia but I figured you'd have seen someone and they'd know if you had.
I would have thought it be better not to wait and see otherwise you may risk a strangulated hernia (healing tissue may eventually heal around the protruding tissue)
Hopefully it's just a contusion but I really don't think I'd wait to find out, surely a ck up after what you've been through is a minor inconvenience?
Strangulated hernia hey ................That doesn't sound great...I would have thought it be better not to wait and see otherwise you may risk a strangulated hernia (healing tissue may eventually heal around the protruding tissue)

The problem i have is that i don't want to go and get prodded and poked by someone unrelated to my op.
The area is so sore and my tummy is very sensitive and still quite painfull to touch. I'm not looking forward to seeing my surgeon and he's the expert, let alone someone i've never met ( i have a huge problem with trusting people with my pain )
I only have a week to go so i'll take the chance
Without starting another thread i wondered if anyone would know if i need HRT ?????
I had one ovary removed but to be honest i am very emotional one minute and then very angry the next....I flip out over the slightest thing which is not me at all...
I also have to have a fan on my face all night or i feel red hot
Any advice or experiences (ladies) would be great
Thanks again all
Mel
It seems strange coming onto PH's and being so open without fear of being ripped apart
Also strange to type something without mentioning V8's, OTRCAI's or AFR's etc
