I'm in Twickernham this weekend at Uni, I recorded it - any good? Was it circuit based exercises or thrusters/muscle ups etc?

Made me smile to see it on TV, I used to do the Ultra Fit Comps in 97/98 through Ultra Fit magazine at the NEC in Birmingham, now the new worded "X-Fit" has made it to TV, good stuff though its all training and getting people off there ass.

A lad was saying today Life Fitness have released a new Signature "X Fit Machine" apparently its a waste of money and another gimmick, very expensive but not much use. If you do muscle ups on it you're close to caving your head on the bars and there's a Trampette on one end which is good for plyometric med ball throws or open chain rotator cuff exercise but nowt else, he said they were just running at it and jumping back from it after they got bored. Hey Ho Virgin Active and such like will have one!

Watched the first hour or so then it clashed with the boxing so have the rest recorded.

It was a bit like their world games with some of the 'big names', working in teams - Europe v USA.

It's a series (yeah!) and very interesting. A variety of events like thrusters and box jumps and hang pulls followed by pressing. Painful just to watch it! Especially the poor woman who had to battle on through muscle ups post failure.

My overhead squats are so poor lack of shoulder flexibility, tight hip flexers etc etc to be young again a BMW?
Yep, wish I could go back and start again. I'd do things so differently - no bodybuilding inspired stuff for sure. I bet I'm even stiffer and more restricted than you are but I'm wondering about starting (v. light) OH squats just for the postural benefits and combining them with high rep free squats, Linesman squats and foot raised lunges which my brother is doing lots of these days.

Sorry to hear about that - you'd never guess from what you can do, was it a case of using this to drive you on to achieve physically? - and of your son. At least you'll know what issues and treatments to avoid, or that work + he'll realise from your example that it needn't hold him back too much.

I know what you mean about the effects of compensation, I had a curved spine (Alexander's Syndrome) from the off, never properly diagnosed or treated and that I'm sure led to my lower back and hamstring problems, on top of the excess stiffness at the top of the spine which I really need to work on. I need to get organised and get back to a better planned and more holistic approach. I aim to retire in the next 3 or 4 years and then will really 'hit it', might even re-train/qualify as a boxing coach or similar.

Not good to read that, how'd you get on?

Lost have you done your overs? I'm so flexed at spine and hip its untrue.
No, maybe tomorrow? (dread!) did high rep shoulder stuff tonight. So I'll be even stiffer and more pained tomorrow.

I will have a crack but am going to wait for my left knee to be pain free first, it's easing but still not fully there.

Can't moan though after reading about McGee's - christ, that sounds bad. Hope the docs sort something out for you...
