Even my Wife is sick of people, and she's Spanish. She often talks of going somewhere else, but I tell her it's probably the same where ever you go these days.
We had an awfull day yesterday. My wife was walking our Black lab, and some fellow with a Husky cross let it off the lead "to play" ours was on the lead, and as soon as the fellow let his dog off it took a great chunk of our dogs ear!
st happens, but this asshole told my wife he had "healing hands" to which my wife replied get you dog away. He buggered off leaving my wife sobbing in distress, and our lovely quiet lab bleeding everywhere.
Some guy cutting the palm trees gave my wife his phone to call me.
The vet couldn't stitch him up becuase he'd eaten, so we spent all day wrapping the poor dogs ear, untill he could have anestetic, and be stitched up at 4.00 in the evening. 150 bloody euro's that some other asshole should have paid.
If I see him out, I'll show him my fking healing hands! punch

Anyway, back on topic. Ideal Spanish car. Old Land Rover pickup (They come with dents from new) with a towbar, and some great bloody oak beams for bumpers!
Oh, and plenty of old anchor chain wrapped around the front one.
Then you park by ear, and get some satisfaction. wink
Ibiza, where I live is exactly the same,I have lived all over Spain over the last 20odd years and by far the worst for a variety of reasons is here on the Island.
The best for roads, food, wine and friendly helpful people and fantastic scenery has been Galicia and the North Coast and also by far the cheapest.

I drive a 10yr old Disco around with a nice big hitch on it and I must say don't get too many problems as it's a bump and park vehicle excatly as they do to me.

Aahh......that coast road from Muros to Finistere! cloud9
Every time we're up visitig the outlaws, and I drive those curves in the hire hack, I think if only I had the Caterham here.
We might end up there one day. The trouble is I've just about come to the end of a 5 year labour of love on a house renovation, and I'm about to start on a nice big workshop.
I don't think I could leave that behind for a few years yet, and I don't know if I'd want to do it all over again.
I'll probably be very happy here once I can lock myself away in the workshop!
I'l have to get a doormat with "GO AWAY!" on it. smile

Been thinking about it for a while actually. wink
But doing it in my car as a "0" car.
Yesterday, I was trolling through PH classifieds, as you do, and I came accros an Esprit X180 for 7.5K. I thought Bloody hell! They built 20 of those for the SCCA World Challenge, It'll be a left hooker!
I sent the Guy an e-mail immediately, and took the dog for a walk, all shakey I was!
I got back and there was a reply. I must have been confused with the X180R rolleyes It was RHD.
I would have bought it unseen.
While I was walking the dog I was thinking, how the hell am I going to break this news to the missus? laugh
At least now I don't have to worry about that.smile

I learnt the hard way that having any sort of sports car is a bit of a waste of time in Spain, unless you live next to a motorway or in a major city as the quality of local roads leaves a lot to be desired.

Don't know where you've been. Yes I've found some very poor roads in Spain - but in probably about 30,000 miles of tours since 2004, only a very few. I'd say Spanish roads are much better than what we have in Hertfordshire.

In terms of a car - if I was Barcelona way I'd have a TVR as Autostorica are very good with them. I've been thinking a classic Camaro soft top would be good for cruising, but with endless budget either a Ferrari or V12V Volante.

Ran a Mustang GT Vert for 2 years in Spain - meets all the original posters requirements IMHO. Plenty of interest and respect from the locals to boot.

Sa Calobra. wink

For a nice drive, get on the motorway up to Inca, then take the road to Selva, and Caimari, until you come out onto the mountain road to Soller. Take it in Direction Soller, and you'll see the sign for Sa calobra on your right just as you pass under a bridge.
It's a dead end at the bottom, which means Damn it! you'll have to do it all the way back up again! laugh
Carry on in direction Soller. On the way to Soller, there are a couple of tunnels through the mountain, which you'll have to go through a couple of times, just to listen to that nice V8 rumble, and there's some nice smooth black tarmac around the resovours.
Keep going untill you get to Andratx! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

When you've done it, if you're not satisfied, the beers are on me. beer
If you have a grin ear to ear, PM me, and the beers are on you. drink

Watch out for the light coloured roads, and early morning damp patches (It's high up there!). Understeer city! Enjoy! smile

Do it soon, becuase the rentals, cyclists, and coaches will soon be taking over!
Roll on the winter. cool

Thats terrible.
Buy your Wife a stun gun. Wont attack your dog again. If the owner gets stroppy, stun him as well. Better still just do the both of them straight away.

Maybe reading this and imagining the the other dog owner will help.

Sorry to hear about your poor old Lab, we have exactly the same here on Ibiza with a lot of the ignorant locals. but it is not everywhere and the mainland I think is far more considerate.
Over the last 23yrs that I have lived in Spain the most friendly of locals for anything whatsoever has been when we lived in Galicia for 5 years, we still visit as they are such lovely people, the only really good time on the Islands for me is the winters when everything is closed.

Apart from that my number 1 car that gets used more than anything else is my old Disco with a nice Tow bar,I too don't have any dents from parking, as it's bump and touch parking for me as well.

I have to agree with you about the people in Galicia.
I married one! thumbup

I dealt with some nice locals this afternoon though, it made up for the 4 hours nightmare this morning, to sort the paperwork in a pissy little boatyard, for the scaffolding guys to put a cover over my boat to get it painted!
I take my hat off to the Guy who's doing the work for me, he had a massive organised folder full of paperwork, but it still wasn't enough for the bh in the office. Lots of phonecalls to Abogado's, Gestors etc. and after turning up at 07.45 this morning, they managed to start work just after midday.
In all my years in the boating industry, worldwide, including a 30 million dollar re-fit, I've never ever encountered such utter utter bullst! I had to shake my head in wonderment that anything ever gets done here at all. bangheadbangheadbanghead

Oh, and to top it all off, a Guy who's been having a house built over the road from the boatyard for the last two years came over to complain that the cover is blocking his view! His house is nowhere near finished, or livable.
He bought a plot opposite a boatyard for crissakes! shoot

Sorry for the rant.

Best fast car for Spain is still a Caterham. driving
But then I am biased. wink
