Kolo in defence could lend to double figures for Real. Anyone else hiding behind the sofa?

Poor Rickie...gone to his boyhood club and even on a night where the scrubs play he's not even on the bench.

Can't say I disagree with any of these journos. Think Bodge might get a rough ride in the papers tomorrow should you lose.

Liverpool playing Barca-esque. For 1 minute at least.

Liverpool's defence parted quicker than Moses parted the Red Sea, for that James chance. Good save from Mignolet!

Best opening 10-15 minutes I've seen for a Liverpool side I've seen this season!

Way to change the subject.

But, the line up is clearly very defensive. Obviously BR has grown impatient of Lovren's mistakes - unless he's injured? Some of the players just haven't been stepping up recently, so why give them glory of playing RM? I wouldn't quite stretch that to Sterling.

Looks to me like this is a continuation of BR's plan against Newcastle to drop some of the attacking strategy in favour of containing the opponent. I think he's trying to get to half time still at 0-0 and then bring on some attacking options in the second half to hit on the counter with some fresh legs.

To me it's the best strategy of saving our best legs if the tie is already over by half time or maybe grabbing a point in this game but also saving some of our best players for the league - in which we also badly need points at the moment. Forget nostalgia.
I've not changed the subject at all. We're talking about who plays when. Of course Gerrard shouldn't play for 90 minutes every game BUT to drop him and most of the first 11 in a game like this is shameful. You'd be upset if you'd turned up to a home Carling Cup game and this was the team.

As for the Newcastle game, that's when he set out to try and nick a 0-0 from the kick off. Great strategy that was.

I'm sure those players did everything they could last season to be made to sit on the bench tonight. If he loses tonight he'll lose the dressing room for what he's done.

Agreed. But still lack that cutting edge and quality in the final third.

Great start by the lads.

Real look dangerous everytime they get the ball.
