Anyone else think we have already made it very hard to get a top 4 finish?

I would bet against us at strong odds right now. Loads of points off the pace.

Get rid of the annoying clown, regain some dignity and actually start rebuilding instead of chasing marketing United.

You can't blame Mourinho for the way Manu have gone down the 'marketing over everything' approach, and you can't blame the Board for how Mourinho carries himself in the public eye. The two issues are completely unconnected.

Who you'd bring in is the million dollar question; Mourinho is proven in the modern game so should be given a proper chance. It may be painful but keeping turning round the manager is unhelpful.

Utd's problems are not down to Mourinho.

Moyes utterly destroyed this Utd side. The rebuilding is taking a long time. He is an utterly terrible manager (as he has shown amply since he was fired). It is impossible to overestimate the damage that he did with his stupidity, defeatism and tactical naivety.

VG did OK given where he started, and I expect Mou to help us progress.

Isn't Mourinho's record worse than both?

And how can you still blame Moyes there's been something stupid like £400m spent since then.

"Rio, come and have a look at these video's of Jagielka, this is how to defend..." rolleyes

As for "Marketing United" what a load of bks. Yes it's true that the Glazers would probably pimp out their grandmother for a buck, but I don't see that any of the recent signings were made for marketing reasons over football ones. All have added much needed quality to the squad with Miki given less of an opportunity than the others but that will change.

Some older squad players are now really performing well under Mourinho, Mata and Herrera being two. I was very critical of Mata last season as he was picked regularly but underperformed. I'm pleased to see he's making much more of a difference now.

But for some wayward finishing we'd have been right in the mix with very little attention being given to Mourinho. At this point in the season we've created far more chances than under Moyes/LVG. But the players have to take responsibility and get those results.

Moyes started quite well - it was in the mid to latter half of the season that the wheels completely fell off (He inherited champions and it took time to get his message across, I guess). Comparing to his first half of the season misses the point. He was a total disaster, however you look at it.

Vangle did ok in the first year but was ultimately let down by his signings who largely, Martial aside, failed to live up to the hopes he and we had for them. As we see now Herrera and Mata excelling as mentioned above, the question is why they didn't before - and why they are now? If Mou is doing such a bad job, why have they improved?

Either way the squad still needs work doing - so not surprising the spend numbers are getting big. If we hadn't screwed up with the appointment after SAF then probably we would be in a better position now and it would likely have cost less too although even then a large revamp was needed. We can afford it, though, because the club and management are able to do well commercially. Yet somehow that's seen as a bad thing too rolleyes.

You cant really argue with that Ascay, 400m spent since he left yet its his fault? not sure how, you are blaming him for the mentality of players now, thats rubbish if you are? his 2 big signings were Fellani and Mata both who have been regulary used by LVG and Mourinho ??

I'd rather watch the 0-0 at the weekend than any of the boring 1-0 wins under Van Gaal. Yes we dropped two points but it was edge of your seat stuff all the way through.

Its nice to have a manager who looks on passionately at the team when playing. LvG making notes when we scored did my head in.

He did throw himself on the floor though once. Something that has ensured he holds legendary status in my 7 year old boy's mind.

Combination of fergy retiring and leaving a poor ageing squad for his successor.Moyes being utterly overwhelmed by the job ,van gaal taking the flair out of the team and spending a fortune on garbage.
