How much have we paid Swansea to let us play like that?
Right Jose, that's the team and tactics sorted...
better performance today with a bit of flair which is nice to see.

This match would've been a nice confidence builder for Mkhytirayan, but he's not even in the squad.

This is starting to sound like an obsession! He's not in the squad because every single time he's put in an appearance he's played absolutely crap and much of it has been due to putting himself under pressure and trying too hard. To bring him into our struggling first team now with all the pressures that brings isn't helpful imo. He's better off getting a run of consistently good performances in the reserves first to get his head straight else if he has another on edge performance we risk another AdM.

Do I hear obsession.....

AdM was in a totally different situation than the Micky chap currently is in. AdM started brilliantly in his first two matches, got injured for a couple of weeks, then he and his wife decided United wasn't his club. Played st ever since and didn't turn up on the United US tour. His 70m price tag did the rest to get him out...

Micky isn't playing football for the first time, last season he was chosen best player of the Bundesliga. If Mourinho really feels the importance and as confident about his signings as he said he did at the beginning of the season, he should give him more time and a run of matches.

But somehow Mourinho, even though he got the 4 singings he wanted, isn't running for the title as he promised.

Chosen player of the season or not, he's still been crap every time he's stepped on the pitch for us. I'm sure it's in him but unless Jose will / can afford him the luxury of a settling in run of games, how can he be brought into the currently lurching team?
Seem to remember Kagawa was seen as a demi-god in German football too but couldn't cut it in the PL.

So who would you drop from today's lineup just to give him confidence? And could you say, hand on heart, that no matter how many times he gives the ball away or passes out of play during the next 3 matches that you'd resist the temptation to sub him and further shatter his confidence?

I'd drop Mata or Rooney depending on where to put Pogba.

Benching or not even including him in the matchday squad isn't going him to do him any good either. And how many chances did he really get...

He used to play every week and almost every match at Dortmund.

I'm not saying he should've started the game but would've been good for him if came on as a sub. How else is he going to adapt to the league, when he can't even get on the bench.

Indeed.

Which also makes me wonder if the players United bought are really all Mourinho's signings.

Take Pogba, besides what seems to be a talented player (but like many on here said; not yet the world star that's made of him), he's also very much an Adidas star. I believe United has the 2nd biggest kit deal ever in world football, with Adidas.

1+1=2 ?

Mourinho knew (as a guestimate) 6 months prior to LvG's sacking he got the job at United. You wonder if a coach of his standing, with his experience and the team surrounding him, knowing every inch of the team and players that United had at the time, couldn't make up a first eleven (or 12 to 13)and a suitable playing style from day 1 ? Plus he's even, what seems to be, ignoring one of the key signings.

Odd.

Today was better, although Swansea didn't really make United's life too difficult, especially in the 1st half, but somehow he's still struggling.

So did I.

But on the flip side I played a wildcard and put Hazard, Aguero, Mane, Coutinhio and Austin in so silver linings and all that.

Nice to win today but it did sound like Swansea were just shocking!

I also remember Klopp coming out in disgust about how you used kagawa...he genuinely said he was as good as their was abd could not believe how u used him

I don't doubt it, we didn't reshape the team to play to his strengths and certainly don't see any reason to do so for Mykh unless he coincidentally fits into a system that works for the rest. I liked Kagawa, thought he tried hard to make it work but I agree he was rarely given the chance in his position because Rooney used to be half decent in that area.

As I recall his forte was threading balls for the prolific Lewandowski to rattle in. I also thought we had RvP with Rooney in the hole but might be confused - it's not easy looking back through these rose-tints! smile

Mourihno dividing his locker room. Poor Shaw, a very young player, just returning from a near career ending injury.just what he needs. A PUBLIC dressing down from his manager.

Well we don't know what has been said in private before this, of course. Perhaps doing things behind the scenes just hasn't worked. IIRC Van Gaal also had issues with Shaw's fitness in his first year with us - perhaps the lad just needs a public kick up the arse from time to time.

JM's comments in the interview also seemed to be aimed as much, if not more so, at the people surrounding the players and it's probably easier to do that in the media than trying to contact them directly. Shaw's brother, for example, who was posting all kinds of crap on Twitter (then deleted it, called it faked and forgot it was still visible in replies..)

Meet the new boss, different to the old boss...
